Rolls-Royce Reborn: A Glimpse of a Remarkable Brand Journey

Rolls-Royce

Take a moment to take in the Rolls-Royce brand as it stands today. It is a force to be reckoned with, selling a record number of luxury automobiles in 2014 and continuing forward with much momentum. It is rather difficult to fathom that just 17 years ago it was sold to BMW with no factories and no cars—only the name survived a serious drought in business.

BMW acquired the Rolls-Royce name in 1998 for £50 million euros. Not a bad investment when you look at the brand today. That sum only bought the famous name, no cars and no factories.  read more

Some Say This Is The Raciest Rolls-Royce Ever

Rolls-Royce Wraith

This rich red dish is the Rolls-Royce Wraith. The color red is not exactly the first shade one envisions coating a sophisticated and generally understated luxury vehicle like a Rolls-Royce–but that little visual expectation only seems to add to the intoxicating effect. The color is a special edition named “St. James”, for the patron saint of Portugal and Spain.

The St. James red Wraith pays homage to the patron saint via the rich color, shapely fastback body and name. There are ample chrome accents to glitter in the sun and the iconic suicide doors that have been capturing hearts and raising pulses for decades. The overall curb appeal is polished off with two-tone silver and gloss black wheels. Imagine arriving to any event in this vehicle—the exuberance would be unparalleled. It is highly unlikely to ever join an exotic rental car fleet, but there will always be other Rolls-Royce rentals to enjoy as the new models emerge. read more

Special Edition Rolls-Royce Wraith Was Inspired By Fashion

The latest fashion for Rolls-Royce was actually inspired by the fashion industry. The Rolls-Royce Wraith has taken to the market like a model to the runway, being described as ‘haute couture’ and even ‘business chic’. So why is the latest member of the fleet being labeled with fashion terms rather than the typical automotive fare? Because she was designed to pay homage to the tradition that is Fashion Week.

Rolls-Royce Is Testing An SUV Chassis and Inviting Interaction

Rolls-Royce SUV

With all of the rumors of a potential Rolls-Royce SUV swirling around the depths of the Internets, there is now something more solid to cling to: Rolls-Royce is testing an SUV chassis on the winged Phantom and inviting the public to check things out as the development process proceeds!

Rolls-Royce testing SUV chassis with a winged Phantom—life behind the wheel could get a little more rugged for fans of the brand.

The brand has been busy releasing photos of the test mule, which is a short Phantom with a distinctive rear wing. While it may or may not end up looking like this, it is certainly a good indication of things to come. Rolls-Royce has made the first move, beating spy photographers out of their play by sharing the photos and information right up front—well played. They describe the vehicle as follows: “an engineering mule.” It serves as the testing chassis for a four-wheel drive version named ‘Project Cullinan’. They have shared that it will be important for the Rolls-Royce SUV to be capable off-road as well, perhaps puffing the chest out to a certain luxury SUV rival? Ahem…what’s up Land Rover? read more

Rolls-Royce Phantom Metropolitan Collection Revealed in Paris

Rolls-Royce Phantom Metropolitan

The Rolls-Royce Phantom Metropolitan Collection was unveiled in full handcrafted glory in at Mondial de L’Automobile in Paris. The bespoke Phantom collection drew its inspiration from the modern metropolis. Only 20 of these glittering specimens will be commissioned, making them among the most exclusive special edition Rolls-Royce fleets.

This collection pays homage to the greatest modern metropolises through strategic design cues and some very special touches. The stand-out feature is the artistic 3D engraving of a city located on the rich wooden dash and the wooden pullout tables. The city drawings were given dimension through a meticulous process involving marquetry. This process inlays small sections of wood veneer to create intricate art motifs, like the city seen in the photos. Passengers in the Rolls-Royce Phantom Metropolitan Collection get the vibe of looking down onto a city Gotham-style each time they pull out their table. read more

The exterior hues mirror the constellations for an out-of-this-world curb appeal.  read more
