For those who do not remember, which is likely most of the world, Miami Vice was a popular television series back in the 1700s. I kid, of course, but it was certainly a long time ago. It seems that the name still demands a premium, as a Miami Vice Ferrari is up for grabs with an asking price of $1.75 million.
Sonny Crockett drove the white Ferrari Testarossa on the set of the hit 1980s show “Miami Vice”. Now the famous ride is up for auction and set to bring in over a million dollars.
The Miami Vice Ferrari is the Testarossa driven by Sonny Crockett in the 1980s. The nice lady comes equipped with all necessary documentation to validate her authenticity, and that superstar glow from spending time on the small screen. Rather than red, this is a white 1986 Ferrari Testarossa, showing a modern side for her time. There are only 16,000 miles on the odometer, indicating that the Ferrari spent most of her life tooling about the Miami Vice set or entertaining its stars locally.
Fun fact: The scenes using the Ferrari Testarossa were originally filmed using replica cars. The Prancing Horse found out, and did not miss an opportunity for exposure: They donated two shiny white real-deal Ferrari cars to the show. True to their authentic form, Ferrari only demanded that the imposter car be destroyed on the show. Ferrari accepts no imitations–even if they are the most sincere forms of flattery.
It will be intriguing to see how much the classic Miami Vice Ferrari Testarossa nets when it changes hands!
