New Luxury Golf & Spa Resort Beckons From Sicily

A new slice of luxury arrived in Sicily last March, in the form of Verdura Golf & Spa Resort.  This new luxury golf course is poised to draw in new crowds to soak in the serenity of the Mediterranean, oh, and perhaps squeeze in a few rounds of golf and a massage.

Well, in my opinion, location is nearly everything when it comes to a successful golf course, and the location on one of Itay’s most world-renowned islands should provide an adequate catapult into success.

This luxury golf destination offers an 18-hole course, designed by Kyle PhillipsVerdura Luxury Golf Club & Spa Italy with stunning and sweeping views of the Mediterranean Sea.  Phillips also designed the courses at the Grove in London and Kingsbarns Links near St. Andrews.  It sprawls across 570 acres between Sciacca and Agrigento, a short drive from the Palermo airport (approximately 80 miles).

Yet this is much more than just a seaside golf escape (although that certainly does not sound so bad!).  While the southern coast of Sicily is famed for its ancient archaeological sites, medieval fishing villages and quaint picturesque lifestyle, it can now boast a luxury hotel chain by the Rocco Forte Collection, nestled among the pristine landscape.

While the beautiful Italian islands of Sicily and Sardinia have long been known for their breathtaking natural beauty, it is an overlooked fact that they also feature some of the finest locations to indulge in a round of golf.

And no need to worry if you are bringing along non-golfers, there are no less than 8 fine dining options, including a trattoria housed in a 15th century watchtower, a luxury spa, and several clubs for children!  Until June 30th the luxurious Verdura Golf & Spa Resort is holding a special package, including three 3-course meals, a round of golf or a spa treatment, and a double occupancy room for $2,000 U.S. dollars (1,680 Euros a room).  Don’t worry, I feel confident that for that price, your luxury rental car will be handled free of charge by the friendly valet.  I would recommend a bright shiny red Ferrari F430 rental, because I think it would really pop out among the blue and green landscape.
