Rolls-Royce, the global power systems company, has won an estimated $250 million in long-term maintenance support business from Cathay Pacific. Cathay will provide TotalCare long-term services and support for the Trent 700 engines that power the new Airbus A330 aircraft produced by Rolls-Royce. Confused yet? Allow me to explain that Rolls Royce is far more than just luxury automobiles and exotic car rentals, but an entire fleet of engines covering land, sea and air!
Rolls-Royce is a very versatile and wise company, who has not placed all of its eggs in one basket, so to speak. Rolls-Royce has a hand in many other types of business, including aerospace, manufacturing commercial and military gas turbine engines for military, civil and corporate aircraft customers around the globe.
In the U.S., Rolls-Royce delivers the finest luxury cars, exotic rental cars, and also engines for regional and corporate jets, helicopters, helicopter charters, aircraft charters and turboprop aircraft. They also construct and install power generation systems
and their core gas turbine technology has led to one of the broadest product ranges of aero-engines in existence-with 50,000 engines in service with approximately 600 airlines, 4,000 corporate and utility aircraft operators, 2,000 marine clients (including 70 navies) and over 160 armed forces. The portfolio of Rolls-Royce spans around 120 countries, damned impressive!
Cathay Pacific currently operates 47 Airbus A330’s, with seven more deliveries scheduled. Phil Harris, Rolls-Royce Civil Aerospace Senior Vice President, stated,
“We are delighted that Cathay Pacific has endorsed our long-term services support by extending its TotalCare® requirements to its entire A330 fleet. In addition it is committing to a major investment in its RB211-524 fleet which will ensure continued efficiency.”
