Has Ducati found a new home?

They will work toward making a profit, of course! According to Rupert Stadler, chairman of the board of management for Audi AG,
“Ducati is known worldwide as a premium brand among motorcycle manufacturers and has a long tradition of building sporty motorcycles. It has great expertise in high-performance engines and lightweight construction, and is one of the world’s most profitable motorcycle manufacturers. That makes Ducati an excellent fit for Audi.”

Time will tell if this will be a match, but they certainly look great together!

The deal will close for an estimated $1.1 billion dollars, if that communicates the faith Audi is placing in the viability of Ducati. Last year, Ducati sold 42,000 motorbikes worldwide and employs 1,100 individuals. Current Ducati plants exist in Thailand and Bologna. With the current luxury auto frenzy in China and Asia, it would come as no surprise for VW to tout the exotic motorbikes to that market, possibly opening new dealership locations in the process. It will certainly be interesting to see what develops from this union!
