Renowned automaker Bentley will now be making two very different types of clutches. The brand has entered the luxury handbag business, adding its badge to a new line of designer pieces. The Bentley handbags have received good reviews overall, with a few haters chiming in.

Now women can accessorize to match their rides

Bentley Motors has joined forces with French designer Vincent du Sartel to create the line of handbags. Sartel specializes in working with fine leathers, and Bentley is certainly no stranger to that arena. The interior of a Bentley supercar is coated with sumptuous leathers, hand stitched to perfection.

Sartel’s resume includes a design role with Louis Vuitton. With his experience in the designer handbag business blended with Bentley’s impeccable reputation, these bags will likely become a collector’s item faster than a Bentley car can reach the 60 mile per hour mark.

About the first ever Bentley handbag collection:

• The colors are, of course, inspired by Bentley automobiles. They include hues such as Imperial Blue, Fireglow Red, Neptune Blue, Black and a neutral Linen.
• The handbags are also fittingly named for the exotic cars. The line includes two initial designs, named the Continental and the Barnato.
• Those curious about the Barnato name: Diana Barnato-Walker held the honor of being the first British woman to break the sound barrier and happened to be a die hard Bentley fan and customer.
• The bags will be priced at $5,000 and $7,000

Bentley took advantage of the well-attended Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance to reveal the surprise goods. While they are not quite up there with Hermes, they are sophisticated and understated. It remains to be seen if they will be adding more styles or creating a future line.
