Exclusive: All the Money on Earth Cannot Buy a LaFerrari

Recently Ferrari announced plans to make their exclusive supercars even more elusive. The Prancing Horse meant every word, as it is nearly impossible for buyers to get their hands on the wheel of the new LaFerrari hypercar. Just 499 examples of the latest Horse will be created, and neither fame nor money can secure a car!

According to Ferrari North America CEO Marco Mattiacci, any person wishing to purchase a LaFerrari should already own 20 to 30 other Ferraris. If that sounds a little insane, it is because the brand wants to cater to an elite group of loyal brand collectors. The price tag of LaFerrari is a cool $1.3 million, and many high-profile individuals have already been turned down.

That does not mean that it is impossible to get a LaFerrari, just that it is more than a challenge to obtain one directly. I assume many of the 499 new owners will be propositioned regularly and tempted with large sums of money to sell their supercars.

Ferrari received 1,000 requests for LaFerrari instantly, though just 499 examples will be produced

LaFerrari is the brand’s latest flagship car. It was unveiled this year at the Geneva Motor Show, and rumors are already circulating that the brand intends to follow it up with an extreme LaFerrari. Word is that the next-gen LaFerrari will be more powerful than the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, the current fastest production car. Let’s hope these rumors are true, as that would certainly be an exciting drag race!

LaFerrari

The LaFerrari packs an aggressive V12 engine featuring the brand’s specialized HY-KERS hybrid technology. The overall output is an impressive 950, which is still way under the Veyron SS’s stable of 1,200 horses. LaFerrari makes the 0-60 mile per hour sprint in less than three seconds with a top speed of 217 miles per hour. The Veyron SS exceeds 267. Will the next LaFerrari overpower that figure?
