The Ferrari Tailor Made Program is a special secret that is not exactly known to all. Ferrari’s special custom program will not only build a supercar to a client’s specifications (they will not, however, tweak the performance), they will make sure it is a one-off. Eric Clapton’s SP12 EC is essentially a Ferrari 458 Italia with bespoke bodywork to help it stand out among other models. Clapton’s favorite Ferrari is the BB 512i, which packs a flat 12, though Ferrari talked him out of using a V12 in the SP12 EC.

While the Ferrari brand will bend over backwards and perhaps do a few somersaults to please the clients of the Tailor Made Program, they will not sacrifice quality or reliability in the process. In other words, they will not alter the engine performance or fit parts that call for further approval from the highest ups. Basically, I think of this program as something similar to West Coast Choppers…they can create an aesthetically unique Ferrari, but the engine options remain basically the same. It is a fantastic way to see some new ideas brought to life without having a handful of silly celebrities thinking they are engineers!
