Rumors are aflame that the Prancing Horse is poised to unveil yet another glorious supercar at the Frankfurt Auto Show this September. Will there be a Ferrari 458 Scuderia? The Scuderia badge has been left in the dust for the past 6 years–it was last used on the Ferrari F430.
Fun fact: The word Scuderia means “stable of horses”, which makes it quite fitting for the Prancing Horse brand. Pictured above is the F430 Scuderia.
What a Scuderia version of the Ferrari 458 means is that it will be a slightly more powerful version of its sibling, the standard 458 Italia. Lamborghini does the same with its “Superleggera” badge. Basically, special high-performance versions of a car entice the adrenaline junkies and are typically a success.
The higher performance Ferrari 458 Scuderia will likely pack on the carbon fiber in order to shave of some curb weight. The weight drop paired with tweaked air intakes and perhaps additional aerodynamic body changes will create on overall power increase without touching the engine. It is unclear if Ferrari intends to alter the engine of the standard 458–though a bit more muscle is always a fantastic call.
The standard Ferrari 458 Italia packs a 4.5-liter V8 engine kicking out 562 horses. The Scuderia version is expected to drop a couple of hundred pounds and pick up the pace.
Thus far, the Ferrari 458 Scuderia is but a rumor to chew on. It is possibly an intentional leak to drum up publicity via a little mystery, Ferrari does love a good tease. The brand has not officially released the details, which means it is possible that we may have to wait until September.
Both coupe and convertible versions were made for the F430 Scuderia.
