The award winning Lamborghini Aventador is at it again–this time busted by spy cameras in spectacular roadster form! This is the first physical evidence that there are future plans for an Aventador roadster, and it is very good news! With 18-month delivery wait times, it feels like waiting for Christmas!

These spy shots were captured by Motor Trend and hint at a carbon fiber hardtop roof, a welcome departure from the Murcielago soft top

Lamborghini has not officially announced the Aventador roadster–but this test car captured by a spy photographer is all the confirmation needed!

The Aventador does not appear to be covered until you look a bit closer and see some tape. This could indicate a lightweight (likely carbon fiber, as mentioned above) top attached for testing purposes. The convertible Aventador is flanked by a Gallardo and an Aventador coupe, not bad company!

The roadster and coupe Aventadors appear identical and will likely share the same powertrain, a 6.5-liter V12 bestowing 700 horses

This is further evidence of Lamborghini’s intentions, though there was a slip last year when the brand accidently released a technical presentation to journalists that included both an Aventador coupe and roadster. They also accidentally posted fuel ratings for a 2012 roadster that were later removed from the website…hmmm!
