The rumor has certainly been gaining momentum for quite some time, but now it is official: The Lamborghini Aventador roadster is real! The topless sibling is decidedly the sexier version, and still delivers the same unrestrained auditory assault we have come to expect from the most aggressive Lamborghini ever.

Lamborghini has unloaded approximately 1,300 units of the coupe Aventador. The roadster version will likely generate just as much, if not more, love.

Aside from the obvious convertible option, the roadster Aventador packs the same 6.5-liter V12 engine kicking out the same number of horses, 700. The full name, Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 clearly depicts the horsepower. Power is still pushed to the rear via a specialized seven-speed automated manual transmission. It seems that Lamborghini adopted the phrase “If it is not broke, why fix it?” with their approach to the roadster version.

According to Lamborghini, the Aventador roadster is capable of nailing the 0-62 sprint in 3 seconds, which is a time mostly reserved for coupes. The top speed is estimated at 217 miles per hour, but could be higher. Any takers on testing this theory? Top Gear, we are looking at you.

Curb weight will remain close to the coupe version, thanks to a light, 2-piece carbon fiber removable hardtop (each piece tips the scale at 13 pounds). The Aventador does not have the mechanical systems other convertibles feature, which keeps her light and fit for speed. After all, what is the point of owning an extreme hypercar if you can’t even destroy your buddies on the track?

MSRP is set at $380,000 (pretty much globally), though pricing stateside is anticipated to be higher.
