It is a sad day indeed, as luxury car brand Lamborghini has announced its intentions to end production life of the amazing Murcielago model. Well, I suppose we had a good run with this fighting bull.
At headquarters in Sant’Agata Bolognese on May 11, 2010, the last Lamborghini Murcielago was lovingly shipped to a Swiss customer. The last of the line was a Murcielago LP640-4 Superveloce with “Arancio Atlas” paintwork, bearing the production number 4,099. Yes, 4,099 Murcielago units rolled out of the factory between 2001 and 2010, an impressive figure indeed.
In fact, the Murcielago was the most-produced 12-cylinder Lamborghini of all time, ranking among the most successful luxury sports car and luxury car rental of all time! So why end a good thing?
This move should not indicate simply a closing of one chapter, but also the beginning of a new one for Lamborghini. 2011 will begin the future of the brand, with a new successor. This successor will boast sharp innovation and technology cultivated by decades of dedication and keep the brand on track for the future, a truly timeless brand. We are all holding our breath to see what hot new Lamborghini rental we will be adding to our fleet of exotic rental cars!
Lamborghini celebrated the exit of the Murcielago with a special exhibition of the most iconic V12 models in its history. A parade was held in Sant’Agata Bolognese where super sports cars including the 350 GT, the Miura, the Countach and the Diablo escorted the adored Murcielago SV from the Lamborghini Museum in a symbolic last ride from the factory. Now we will all open our hearts and wallets for a new automotive legend, coming soon!
