Volvo C30 electric luxury car
When I think of luxury brands, Volvo does not come to mind. Yet the Swedish carmaker has unveiled the electric-powered C30 coupe, set for a 2014 release date. The Volvo C30 electric coupe is poised to compete with other luxury hybrid cars in its class, and is right up there with the Nissan Leaf and the Chevy Volt. I am sure this vehicle will be added to a fleet of Los Angeles luxury rental cars because of its green technology.
Like the Leaf and the Volt, the C30 is rumored to drive and feel just like a “regular” car. The compact luxury hybrid seats four, meaning two adults and two children, as the back seats are a bit undersized. Volvo plans to release the C30 in 2014, though it will send around 100 units the U.S. in 2012 for standard fleet testing.

So why the extra years, Volvo? According to special-vehicles boss Lennart Stegland of Volvo, the company is taking extra time to test the electric vehicles because it feels that the electric car and luxury hybrid car market is going to grow rapidly over the next few years, and it wants to be fully prepared to meet the demands of consumers. I can understand that idea, but by waiting so long Volvo may also be poising the brand to be overlooked or viewed as a late-coming copycat and underdog. That and the chosen name may prove to be an issue for the C30, as there are other electric car names that are much more catchy.
