A Porsche Mid-Sized Sedan? Look Out, BMW!

Rumors are circulating that Porsche could be on a strategic collision course with the likes of BMW. Porsche could be considering entry into the mid-sized sedan arena, a market where BMW, Audi, Mercedes-Benz and others are king. A Porsche mid-sized sedan seems like such a strange concept, yet it could make perfect business sense. Porsche mid-sized sedan

Could a Porsche mid-sized sedan usurp BMW, Audi or Mercedes-Benz? It would certainly be fascinating to see a finished product! The Panamera has more of a wagon look.

While there is the Porsche Panamera, it is hardly a mid-sized sedan in a comparable price range to competitors. The Panamera simply offers four doors but remains every inch an exotic sports car, and that wagon vibe can be off-putting. The Panamera shocked the world when it came out, meeting mixed reviews. Over the years, many have come to accept and even adore the Panamera, viewing it as both sporty and conventional with the added value of serving as a daily driver. The luxury mid-sized sedan market is one of the most competitive in the world, and would take some finesse to enter, along with bravado. A company like Porsche would definitely have its plan of action prepared years in advance.

Porsche CEO Matthias Muller previously made the following statement about the move: “Speaking very frankly, I can say this is one of the many ideas we have, to build a car below the Panamera.”

The Panamera

A Porsche sedan may not look too shabby, if you imagine your favorite features peppered in in such a way. Being a part of the unstoppable Volkswagen conglomerate certainly does not hurt the chances for Porsche sedan concepts to be created to test the waters.

Will the future hold luxury sedan options from BMW, Lexus, Audi, Mercedes and even Porsche? We will have to stay tuned for further leaks.
