A rare collector car is for sale: a 1950 Ferrari 166 Inter Vignale coupe. Not only is this the 3rd oldest Ferrari in the UK, it is the slowest Ferrari! This Ferrari boasts a top speed of 150 miles per hour, placing it head-to-head with the Ford Taurus.
The grille and headlamps are quite pronounced on the earlier Ferrari
This slow Ferrari (Two words that typically do not stand anywhere near each other) packs a modest 2-liter V12 140bhp engine. That said, it can creep up to the 60 mile per hour marker in 10 seconds…that would be about 4 times slower than the Ferrari beasts of today.
This Ferrari destroys the 0-60 mph mark in 10 seconds, leaving ample time for today’s versions to lap it.
The engine
Ok enough jabs about what is lurking beneath the hood of the 166 Inter Vignale. The exterior is classic and shapely, blending the design cues of Alfredo Vignale and Giovanni Michelotti (who was an emerging stylist at that time). It seems as though if your name is Giovanni, being artistic or a designer is simply a prerequisite.
The lines of the Ferrari have changed dramatically over the decades!
This car has jet-set the globe, with previous owners in the U.S., UK, France, Japan and even Zimbabwe! It will be interesting to see where this classic Ferrari ends up next, as well as the final sale price.
The interior is coated with fine white leather
The rear could transport luggage or a very uncomfortable passenger or two! Though, this is still much more space than many exotic sports coupes.
