Biltmore Hotel
Anchored in the classy community of Coral Gables, southwest of downtown Miami is the Biltmore Hotel. This luxurious slice of history was built in 1926 and is drenched in yellow and orange Spanish architecture. Stay in any of the 273 lavishly appointed rooms of the Biltmore, and you have access to 10 tennis courts, the 18-hole golf course designed by Donald Ross, a world-class spa and the largest outdoor pool in the states! If you opt for a spa session, we recommend the Chardonnay scrub.
Stay at the Biltmore Hotel and discover why figures like LeBron James, Judy Garland, Al Capone, Bill Clinton and the Duke and Duchess of Windsor have selected this upscale establishment.
The Setai
Old world luxury meets modern at the swank Setai Hotel in South Beach. This Oceanfront stunner is infused with Asian architecture and pampering, with floor-to-ceiling windows and Eastern décor. Guests love the modern, crisp and clean design with wrap-around terraces, saunas, private pools and panoramic Ocean views. A condo at the Setai sold for a record $21.5 million, if that is any indication to the level of opulence and service available at this Miami luxury hotel!
There are 5-star dining options available at the Setai, a luxury spa, several sparkling pools, 24-hour service and Lenny Kravitz even keeps a 2,500 square-foot music studio inside. Artists who have recorded there include Mary J. Blige and Jay Z…I wonder if he drove that new Bugatti birthday gift there?
Mondrian Hotel South Beach
While there are masses of luxury hot-spots and hotels lining South Beach, there is also a jewel perched right on Biscayne Bay: The Mondrian Hotel. With its stark white modern décor and captivating view of the bay and Miami skyline, this is a true traveler’s find.
The Mondrian boasts 342 studios, 1 & 2 bedroom apartments and penthouses, all of which feature a black and white theme with the much-talked-about Mondrian logo: a variety of sea-nymph girls with dramatically oversized eyes. When I stayed at the Mondrian for the North American Lexus LFA introduction, I inquired about the strange logo to the concierge, who informed me that she creates quite the stir, with some guests even requesting that she be “covered up” because of her intense stare. See photo below.
Amenities of the Mondrian Hotel include an expansive 4,000 square-foot spa, a fitness center, and the Asia de Cuba restaurant with Asian-Latino cuisine. But the real star of this luxury hotel is the pool area, overlooking pristine Biscayne Bay and lined with gorgeous cabanas and oriental rugs and bright throw pillows. The red and orange sunsets from the pool deck are captivating, leaving you to feel like you are inside of an oil paining.
