Top Gear cast

The fellas at Top Gear, Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May have been at it again–this time comparing the current 4-door offerings from Maserati, Porsche and Aston Martin. You can drive 2 of the 3 and do a bit of road testing of your own with the Quattroporte and the Panamera, both are included in our luxury rental car fleet. Top Gear video at bottom of post!

The models compared were the newest additions for each brand, each boasting the 4-door layout:
•    Aston Martin Rapide
•    Maserati Quattroporte
•    Porsche Panamera

The guys sharking the Quattroporte, the one every man wanted to drive

From the very beginning there was a bit of trouble, as none of the lads were particularly interested in driving the poor Porsche Panamera…it was an aesthetics issue, mainly.

All 3 men found the Panamera to be an eyesore, and Richard Hammond apparently drew the short straw, as he was stuck driving the Porsche. During a particularly amusing scene, the guys began teasing Hammond about how difficult it was to look at the ugly car. In response, he stated that the only pleasurable point to driving the Porsche was that he did not have to look at it…then he saw the reflection in a shop window and winced!

After a few hours of driving the 3 cars and getting an intimate feel for each, all three men ranked them in the same order: 1. Maserati Quattroporte 2. Aston Martin Rapide and 3. Porsche Panamera (begrudgingly!).
