Many hoping to obtain the latest Ferrari supercar, LaFerrari, have met with devastating results. The brand is only making 499 units of the $1.3 million dollar supercar. Ferrari is hand-picking those will have the privilege of owning one, turning down even high-profile figures and deep pockets. Prospective LaFerrari buyers must also own at least 5 other Ferrari cars to qualify. A Filipino man hoping to meet with Maranello’s approval recently dropped $750,000 on a Ferrari F12 Berlinetta–bringing his collection up to the magic number five!

A man purchased a $750,000 Ferrari F12 Berlinetta  in order to make the cut for prospective LaFerrari buyers. Ferrari insists that all prospective buyers must own at least 5 other Ferrari cars…and even that will not secure you a lusted-after LaFerrari. 

The demands made by Ferrari to own the LaFerrari come on the heels of the brand’s announcement that it is moving toward exclusivity over volume. With most of the Ferrari models already boasting an air of the untouchable, further restrictions enforced have some buyers revved up.

It is nearly impossible to get your hands on a LaFerrari…even if there are 499 being produced. Monetary bribes will fail and celebrity status will not count in the buying process, as many have already been refused. 

The man purchased the pricey Ferrari F12, when he could have ordered a base model Ferrari California and saved around $500,000. This suggests that he is a passionate Ferrari collector…and that he is a bit enthralled by the chance to white-knuckle a LaFerrari. The F12 Berlinetta is still relatively new, packing a glorious 6.0-liter V12 kicking out 730 Prancing Horses. Even the Berlinetta pales in comparison to LaFerrari, which releases over 900 horses from its futuristic hybrid engine.

There is no guarantee that the man will have a shot at a LaFerrari, but at least he has a brand new Ferrari F12 to ease the sting!
