Blackberry Porsche P’9981
In the competitive world of smartphones, it seems to be touchscreen vs. buttons…and that boils down to iPhone vs. Blackberry. Both sides are passionate about their product, and Crackberry loyalists most frequently claim that they cannot function sans buttons. So meet the Blackberry Porsche P’9981, the latest luxury edition just unveiled in Dubai at an RIM and Porsche Design event…and it can do both. Video at bottom of post
How does the Blackberry P’9981 stack up against the Aston Martin smartphone? Comment below!

Dubai is, of course, the perfect platform to sell a smartphone with a luxury car tagline…they are all filthy rich and love gadgets and Porsche. The P’9981 has met with mixed reviews, some even calling it ‘ugly’, but I personally feel that it all comes back to the touchscreen or buttons preference. If you prefer buttons, great! If you want a touchscreen interface, great! Please just stop crusading for your side like it is a religious face-off…people are not going to convert unless they want to. Blackberry is intelligent enough to offer both functionalities…can you tell I am a user?
The Blackberry Porsche P’9981 sports equal parts stainless steel and leather for a sophisticated and automotive look & feel. The phone features a 1GHz processor, 5-megapixel camera with 720p HD video and an NFC chip. Even the Blackberry 7 OS is tricked out with custom Porsche Design fonts and icons, which is cool.
The Porsche themed Crackberry will be quite limited, if not seemingly restricted, so if you are burning to grab one for me, get your $2,000 ready because they will be in scant retail locations before the year is out! If not, you can rent a Porsche (you know, the real thing!) for less than $2,000 and it would be far more exciting…jes sayin’!
The video above gives a very brief overview of the phone, covering the main points without boring you!
