Porsche is getting a bit big for their britches!  Apparently Porsche has set their sights on challenging the flawless Ferrari 458 Italia, voted best car by…well…everyone! So can a Porsche concept car capture the 458’s glory?

Currently the only real competition for the fabulous Ferrari 458 Italia is perhaps the McLaren MP4-12C and the Lamborghini Gallardo. So what exactly is Porsche planning to bring to the challenge?

Porsche intends to attempt to annihilate the 458 Ferrari with a new 960 model, but not until 2015, which makes their point a bit mute. I doubt the prancing horses are shaking in their hooves about a threat looming 3+ years ahead, as they will likely have a replacement model ripping up headlines and racetracks by that time.

The upcoming Porsche 960 will be powered by a 3.8-liter twin-turbo 6-cylinder engine kicking out 600 horses. So far, the 960 only rivals the 458 in price, estimated to emerge at $250,000 USD.

Rumors run rampant in the automotive industry, so it remains to be seen how much of this is truth and how much is pure speculation; specifications tend to impress me more.
