This Week in Chicago: November 29th – December 5th
Let’s face it Chicago, winter is here to stay for a few months. Instead of being down and upset about it, get excited about ice-skating at historic Wrigley Field. The Rink at Wrigley opens this Wednesday, December 1st. The Rink at Wrigley is back for the second consecutive year; a full size ice skating rink will welcome skaters to the Friendly Confines all winter long. A big thanks for the generosity of the Ricketts family and the Chicago Cubs, 44th Ward Ald. Tom Tunney, the City of Chicago, and the Chicago Park District for putting this together. This is a perfect place to pull up in one of our vehicles from our fleet of Chicago exotic rental cars.
Building on last year’s success, a full-size skating rink will once again find a home in the Cubs parking lot at the corner of Clark and Waveland. Named The Rink at Wrigley, the endeavor is sponsored by the Ricketts family and the Chicago Cubs. It’s not just baseball anymore at Wrigley; Chicagoans can now ice skate with the historic stadium as a backdrop. Although the rink is not on the actual field of play, the rink sits just outside the historic stadium and is a thrill for Cubs fans and ice-skating enthusiasts alike.
The grand opening celebration is planned for Saturday, December 4, 2010, at 1 p.m. and will be open to the community free of charge followed by an open skate. Admission is $5 Monday-Thursday and $10 on the weekends. Skate rental is $5 Monday-Thursday and $10 on the weekends as well. Avid skaters can lock up a season pass for just $60. Weekday hours are 3 P.M. – 10 P.M. and the weekend hours are 10 A.M. to 10 P.M. Ice skate on hallowed ground and come out to the Rink at Wrigley all winter long.
