New York native Anthony Bourdain has certainly attainted an esteemed career, including author, TV persona and renowned celebrity chef, a series of awesomeness that began as a lowly dishwasher in New York! Yes, now a celebrity chef, Bourdain admits that he does see the irony in the fact that he has always loathed uh…celebrity chefs. 

What?  That is like driving a Lamborghini Gallardo rental NY but claiming to hate them.  Well, I suppose his unique take on the role allows him to express his true feelings.

Either way, I appreciate Bourdain’s complete lack of a filter and ability to marinate in every culture he encounters on his robust and intensely absorbing Travel Channel show, ‘No Reservations’.  Clever title, eh?  Well, when you ingest things like brains and blood sausage on television, I suppose you can’t have too many reservations!

 

So was the title of the book that shot him into the creative culinary spotlight, “Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly,” a read reflecting the typical ‘Tony’ wit, humor, and rambunctious yet sophisticated approach to the often hidden aspects of the culinary world and his personal experiences.  

Bourdain also speaks publicly and recently spoke at Ulster Performing Arts Center in Kingston about the quest of a chef and its occasionally unsavory or dubious rewards for him and the viewer’s kitchen.  He is so Chuck Norris, he spoke just after returning from a TV shoot in Cambodia.

Bourdain hails from the luxurious Brasserie Les Halles in New York, which has another Miami location, where he was executive chef for many years.  Brasserie Les Halles is an elegant French restaurant NY dishing up simple and classic French cuisine like foie gras, escargot, and steak tartare prepared to order at the table.
