Mercedes-Benz is eager to unleash some futuristic trends for the next-gen cars. The new 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class will take the brand one step closer to an autonomous car–boasting the ability to stop and steer itself. While it seems quite sci-fi at this juncture, many brands are gearing up to offer autonomous vehicles behind the scenes. The concepts are largely ignored or labeled as crazy, but the technology is coming. The word ‘safety’ could quite possibly ensure its survival success.
Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Edition 507 Delivers More than a Mouthful
Mercedes-Benz has been busy pumping up the volume in the C63 AMG. The Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Edition 507 may be a mouthful, but it delivers in the power arena. As you may have guessed by the name, this version takes the standard 481 horses up to 507 for more impact.
The Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Edition 507 at a glance:
- 6.3-liter V8 engine gets some high-performance tweaks. Naturally aspirated.
- Forged pistons cribbed from the SLS AMG
- Revised crankshaft and connecting rods
- 7-speed MCT transmission
- Rear wheel drive
- 450 lb-ft of torque
- It hits the 0-60 mile per hour jump in 4.1 seconds with a top speed of 174 mph.
- Oversized AMG compound brakes with hot red calipers for curb appeal
- 19-inch wheels with gloss black accent. This looks fantastic with the matte gray exterior.
- It gets the heat-extractor hood from the C63 AMG Black Series
- Aerodynamic rear spoiler
- Three different interior options are available: Porcelain design leather/DINAMICA, black design leather/DINAMICA or just black design leather
- AMG performance steering wheel in Alcantara
The upscale interior styling elements will be similar to those seen in the special Black Series. The lavish cockpit options coupled with the power hike will create a Mercedes-Benz to remember. Customers can choose one of three interiors, and one of two wheel options for the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Edition 507. One option is a sleek titanium gray with a high-gloss finish and the other is a matte black with high-shine rim flanges. Because the matte trend continues to be wildly popular, we expect to see the offering continue for the foreseeable future with a variety of brands.
2014 Mercedes-Benz Lets You Keep that New Car Scent
That ‘new car scent’ is something special that will wear off eventually, regardless of the finest efforts. That may not be the case with the 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class. There is an available option that will waft one of four scents through the vehicle. So how is this different from expensive car scents?
The car perfume is called…prepare to be surprised: “Active perfuming”. The brand loves the term active, and tacks it onto anything possible.
The active perfuming option is an additional $350 and is located inside of the glove compartment as part of the automatic climate control system. There are just 4 scents to choose from initially, though if the trend catches on there will surely be more rolling out. The scents are called: Nightlife mood, Downtown mood, Fireside mood and Sports mood. We can only hope that Sports does not call to mind a dirty locker room. The buyer can substitute their favored perfume or cologne if they do not care for the 4 scents.
Which Mercedes Benz Models Were Awarded for Being Green?
Not one, but two Mercedes Benz vehicles have been acknowledged for their environmental endeavors! Both the ML 250 BlueTec 4Matic and the B200 Natural Gas Drive have nabbed the title “Winners in Green” from Auto Test. Auto Test is a popular German auto magazine and the environmental auto ranking is published annually.
The Mercedes ML250 BlueTec and the B200 GNG were both named “Most environmentally friendly” in their class by Auto Test.
Criteria for the green award include fuel consumption, emissions, manufacturing conditions, recycling and the environmental systems of the manufacturer. This is the second year in a row that the Mercedes BlueTec has ranked high on the green scale!
