In Economic Despair, Rolls-Royce is Still There

As most companies deteriorate through our current financial collapse, one company named Rolls-Royce remains unscathed.  In september Rolls-Royce delivered 129 luxury vehicles, which puts them up 7.5% from last year. To date Rolls-Royce has delivered 829 luxury vehicles.  How have they done? The answer is rich clients in emerging economic markets, like India which is one of their strongest. Rolls-Royce has remained hush-hush about new orders but is optimistic of their future. The marque aims to deliver 2,000 cars by 2010, this effort has generated 200 extra jobs at the Goodwood factory, East Sussex. Spurring the economy one Rolls-Royce at a time, thanks.

Hello Moto: The Trident Iceni Luxury Sports Car

The Trident Iceni is a luxury sports car that goes the distance. The Iceni can do a legit 2,000 miles, and hit 200 miles per hour on just one tank of gas. That would be London to Venice and back again on a single tank, a.k.a some serious fuel efficiency.

The engine on this exotic sports car runs on biodiesel and uses a new technology called torque multiplication, which holds down revs.  FYI: Which equals less fuel. The powerful sports car frame is built with stainless steel which won’t corrode and the body of composite metals will never rust. Fuel efficent, fast, and rust-proof, better days are ahead.  This is the perfect luxury sports car for any car enthusiasts.

Best of the Best: The Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT

Robb Report magazine annually awards top cars throughout several categories and has been doing so for about 18 years now. The Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT is the “Best of the Best” for sedans this year according to Robb. Robb Report favored the Quattroporte Sport GT over many high-profile and higher-cost luxury sedans. Triumph came over the Bentley Continental Flying Spur, the new Maybach 57S, the new Audi S8 and the BMW M5.  The GT S uses the same 4.2-liter V-8 and six-speed automatic transmission as the rest of the Quattroporte range. Maserati says the new four-door represents "the ultimate sporting expression of Maserati’s flagship model," we just think its sexy.

Looks like a Spaceship but it’s a Porsche Ship

Porsche is classic cars and now they are moving into the business of boat building. Porsche Design Group just announced a new deal that would have them designing and marketing yachts. The deal is going down with Royal Falcon Fleet, a singapore based catamaran and mega-yacht building company.

The yachts look seriously slick and futuristic. We may just be in love, the first project is going to be a motor catamaran. The catamaran is being called the RFF135 and will be 135 ft.

Tank test results point to yachting speeds of 35 knots and don’t worry Porsche isn’t messing around for kicks. They are taking the project seriously, enlisting Kockums which is a Swedish marine engineering company and some serious naval architects. We will keep watch to see how Porsche does on the sea, keep you posted.

Good With No Hood: The Bentley Continental Convertible

Bentley GTCWe are straight shooters and when it comes to the Bentley Continental GTC, it’s just not for everyone. Put it to you this way, not everyone is cut out to be a fine art collector. The majority of people can’t afford it and the rest wouldn’t know fine art if it ran them over. The point is, if you know about art and have money then it’s easy to see that the 2008 Bentley Continental GTC is art in motion.

The fresh air kid is third to join the Bentley Continental clan. All joking aside, there is nothing kiddish, small or prepubescent about the new convertible but it ‘s still catching a lot of crap from the critics. We feel the critics are a tasteless bunch of have-nots and race-junkies who are secretly longing for their own Bentley. Any semi-intelligent life form knows that Bentleys are made for a noble statement not race-track record breaking.  We like to enjoy the finer things in life and on Bentley’s behalf, the Bentley engine pushes the 5,478 pound giantess (think Chevrolet Suburban) from 0 to 60 mph in 4.8 seconds. Now that’s beauty in a beast and incredible engineering, the Suburban could never get close to that pickup and wouldn’t even look half as good trying.

The new Bentley Continental GTC exotic car is an elegant and sumptuous vehicle that may feel a bit heavy from behind the wheel but let us assure you that’s no accident. Bentley takes pride in old school British luxury and meticulously handcrafted touches, that’s nothing to criticize. The fact of the matter is that the wealthy are buying envious stares, mass attention and status with their Bentley. We aren’t pro-Paris Hilton or anything but even the ditzy blonde realized that a Bentley convertible would grab her some extra (much needed) attention.  If you can’t afford the Bentley GTC for $218,235, then don’t knock it!

If you can’t afford your own Bentley Continental GTC do not worry, how about renting one for the day to get the full Bentley experience.  The Continental GTC is the convertible version of the GT four-seater coupe for those that didn’t know. The richly textured three layered, sound-retardent roof with heated rear window isn’t your traditional folding roof. The long rear deck blends in with the retracted roof, and the leather cover conceals the roof in an elegant way without taking over the trunk, as opposed to other contemporary convertibles.   Dare we say it but we like the finished look of the GTC more than the coupe, the proportions just appear less forced.  Backlash to some degree is inevitable when turning a car into a convertible but we assure you, the GTC makes perfect sense.

The Bentley GTC is one of the few lavish touring convertibles on the market, the ride is richly smooth and driving fast just isn’t the priority.  Take the family for an open road, scenic cruise of Malibu or    Miami Beach. The GTC convertible is a model unto itself and sophisticated to say the least. Let the top down and revel in convertible touring at its best. Take in the open air and enjoy the road rather than race it for once.

Bugatti FPG Par Hermes watch

It’s a big job when it comes to complimenting the new 2009 Bugatti Faubourg Par Hermes car and we say three is better than two.  The partnership between Bugatti’s auto expertise and Hermes’ fashion authority resulted in the breathtaking 2009 FPG Par Hermes exotic, luxury sportscar.  It seems Bugatti thought it was time to add a third party to the mix and push the project a little bit farther, we say in this case three is not a crowd.  What we mean is that Bugatti and Hermes wanted to create a complimentary piece for the FPG car, so they linked up with Parmigiani.  Parmigiani is a highly esteemed Swiss watch maker and the result is, well, a seriously insane watch!  From the three fab marques comes the Parmigiani Fleurier Bugatti watch, priced at $233,900.

One of the best features about this watch is that when your hands are on the wheel of your new Bugatti FPG Par Hermes car, you can look at the time convienently without twisiting your arm.  The watch is available in 18-carat rose or brushed white gold version.  The part we like even better is that the watch is extremely exclusive and only 20 timepieces will be sold.  Those with the cash better act fast, it would be such a shame to have one without the other.

Bugatti Plus Hermes is Par Excellence. Luxury Sports Car.

Bugatti Par HermesWe always thought the Bugatti marque was solitary perfection.  Then just when we thought we knew all about perfection, Bugatti went and upstaged themselves.  For the sake of some good old fashioned nostalgia and an 80 year old collaborative partnership with the fashion house of Hermes, Bugatti released a special edition Veyron sportscar. The special edition Veyron is the Faubourg Par Hermes car, in short the FPG Par Hermes. The name pays homage to the high-end label Hermes, whose historic headquarters sits at 24 rue Faubourg Saint-Honoré street.

Bugatti Par HermesThe car features both interior and exterior upgrades but one aspect remains unchanged and that is the Bugatti Veyron’s powerplant. When Bugatti feels like they’ve harped on perfection at least they know it because the FPG Veyron’s mechanicals were left untouched. Thus the same Quad-Turbocharged 16 Cylinder (16.4) engine still produces 1001 Horsepower @ 6000 rpm and 922 pounds per feet of torque @ 2200 rpm. The FPG Par Hermes supercar will still top out at 253 miles per hour and do 0-60 mph in 2.46 seconds (62-0 mph in 2.3 sec).

Bugatti FPG Par HermesBugatti FPG Par HermesA traditional two-tone chassis honors the 1924 Bugatti Type 35, from back when Hermes was doing the custom interiors for Ettore Bugatti. Key features are the exclusive color hood, which extends to the interior of the cockpit and re-emerges at the level of the rear wing. The front end of the luxury car has been slightly revamped as well, and the Hermès monogram has been added to the front grille.  The eight-spoke, polished aluminum wheels also don the single H monogram and the fuel filler door is engraved with “Bugatti Veyron Fbg Par Hermès”.

Bugatti FPG Par HermesThe interior is all handstitched Hermès calfskin leather and has new internal door handles evocative of handles used on Hermès trunks. Also included is a Hermès wallet designed to fit inside the center console and a Hermès suitcase designed to fit inside the trunk.

In line with the Bugatti and Hermès heritage there are four color options which are “indigo blue and vermilion”, “indigo blue and lime green”, “black and garance red” and “Prussian blue and blue jean”.

Bugatti FPG Par HermesIt is seldom that we see the exotic car industry and high fashion world marry, let alone reproduce so flawlessly. For adrenaline highs of 200-plus and a piece of fashion history we say the Bugatti FPG Par Hermes is priceless. The duo is par excellence and we must have a Bugatti FPG for our personal collection. At the end of this year, for just $2.77 million you can add the exotic beaute to your collection too. To compliment your very own Bugatti FPG Par Hermes car (like it really needs any), you can get the matching Parmigiani Fleurier Bugatti watch!

For the Collegiate Bound Boy: All New 2009 BMW M3 Coupe

For the elect collegiate man with a need for speed listen up.  You’re not quite ready for the BMW M5 just yet but the all new 2009 BMW M3 Coupe is a car to seriously keep in mind.  The iconic Coupe has undergone a complete redesign and the new M3 has a revamped interior, exterior and engine.

There’s a lot to love about the new M3 which competes in the same market space as the Lexus IS-F, Audi RS5 and Mercedes CLK63 AMG.  The "M" car now features a new revved-up V8 engine which is the lightest V8 in the world, evening weighing less than the old M3’s incline-six.  What this really means is that the 2009 M3 delivers 420 horsepower from 4 liters and a maximum torque of 295 pound per feet at 3,900 rpm.  What this really, really means is that the maximum engine speed is 8,300 rpm and the car is an insane powerhouse.  Add to that a tuned suspension, six-speed manual transmission, a carbon fiber roof which cuts unnecessary weight and lowers the center of gravity.  Plus, all the exterior modifications we always loved about the BMW M3, equals one awesome upgrade.

2009 BMW M3The production 18-inch wheels will also be offered in 19-inch alloy, similar to the Y-spoke from the M3 concept car.  MSRP starts at $56,500 and that is excessively reasonable for a car that packs such a strong punch.  We recommend all the upgrades in the premium and technology packages because they enhance the Coupe and, in our opinion, are necessary to get the full-on BMW M3 luxury driving experience.
