Ahh Miami nightclubs. The “Hot Spot” labels change faster than Paris Hilton swaps boyfriends, and sometimes it’s tough to keep up, but there is still a sure bet in South Beach.

The reigning champ for the last seven years is the chic and exclusive Mynt Lounge in the 2100 block of Collins Avenue.  Outside you will spy a long line of sexy exotic car rentals Miami, and an even longer line of well-dressed hopefuls.

 

The list of celebrities that have passed through Mynt’s doors are impressive, but regulars include Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears, Cameron Diaz, Mickey Rourke, Sean Penn, Jennifer Lopez, Giselle Bundchen, Colin Farrell, and Jamie Foxx.

Add to these A-listers, a host of models, designers, fashionistas, top DJs, and high rollers, and you understand why infiltrating Mynt’s velvet rope can seem more like scaling Excalibur, the tallest rock-climbing wall in existence.  

The dance floor is not oversized, but the personalities filling it are.  The swank atmosphere includes music, modular white lounge-style couches, and an extended bar mixing up specialty drinks to please the very particular palates who pass through the upscale Miami club.

The problem is that the guest list here is a ‘who is who’ and who is currently hot, so unless you are extremely beautiful, rich, famous, and/or well dressed, it might be tough to get in. 

There are other ways to wriggle in, like signing up for their online guest list, or stay at a hotel that offers club VIP passes and hope that Mynt is on that list.

 

Here are some other suggestions for trying to get in:

•    Arrive early. This means at about 11pm when there will be fewer people in line.

•    Dress to impress. Discriminating doormen are paid to ensure the scene and vibe inside are upscale, that means they are looking for people who are attractive, and who look like they are going to spend money inside.

•    Never insult the doormen. Confidence is important – you should look like you know you belong here but don’t come off boastful or give attitude to the doorman. Also, do not try to tip the doormen. They will consider it an insult.
