A One of a Kind Ferrari is Calling Your Name

Today luxury is synonymous with exclusivity. When you have an abundence of wealth you can have anything you want, and being the only one with a priceless piece of art, your own clothing line or a custom designed Estate is absolutely posh. It’s all about outdoing the best with something better and then adding your personal mark, making it all about you.

You’re in luck because now you can take individuality to a new level by completely customizing your own Ferrari with the Ferrari Atelier program and we think that is ultra sexy. The Atelier program allows you to revamp a new Ferrari 612 Scaglietti, just the way you have always dreamed. First you take a trip to Maranello, Italy where Ferrari has been handcrafting exotic cars since 1947. Next you sit down with a specialist who asks you about your specific wants and needs. You look at a few leather swatches, choose your matching handmade luggage, and customization continues until your hearts content. After everything is said and done, you drive away in your one-of-a-kind Ferrari roadster. It will be all yours and just so everyone knows it, put your name on the back model plate and voila!

New Ferrari Pays Homage to Ferris Bueller

Yes we said Bueller, as in the 1986 hit film Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Everyone has seen the classic that follows a day in the life of a normal teen named Ferris Bueller (Matthew Broderick). Broderick gave a phenomenal performance but he was out-performed by a car, not just any car but the 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder.

The little 250 GT California Spyder made a legendary appearance on the big screen. From the first moment Bueller and his hypochondriac pal Cameron "borrowed" the Ferrari, a star was born. The California was so beloved that Ferrari has decided to recreate it after 40 years. Apart from lifting the name and a few design accents there will be nothing classic about the new Ferrari California.

Ferrari has completely revamped the California with a 4.3 liter V-8 engine that will be positioned in the midfront of the car, which is a first for the marque. Modeled closely after Ferrari’s F1 race cars will be a new electronic seven-speed direct-shift double-clutch gearbox. The name is a mouthful but this exceptional gearbox get the California’s shift time down to zero, it’s unbelievable so practice saying it. The automated hardtop, another first for Ferrari, retracts right into the trunk; thus, the convertible was appropriately named for those open road, 195 mile per hour, California cruises. Racing to 60 miles per hour in under 4 seconds, likens the California to that bizarre mullet haircut, so popular in Ferris Bueller’s day, all business in front and party in the back.

The Ferrari California exotic sports car will be made available in early 2009 for an estimated $199,000. Just goes to show that a genuinely first-class car will always be brought back.

Hot Girl on Girl Action in South Beach

Lindsay Lohan

Although they haven’t officially come out yet, on the down low couple Lindsay Lohan and DJ Samantha Ronson were spotted at the Delano Hotel today.  The Delano hotel was designed by Ian Schrager in the mid-90’s and has been a staple on Miami Beach ever since. The hotel caters to a bevy of A-list celebrities and high profile businessmen for up to 2k plus per night.

Samantha had a DJ-ing gig last Saturday at the Seminole Hard Rock & Casino Hotel and LaLohan stood close by all night.   The Hard Rock Hotel is located near Miami and is equipped with a massive 130,000-square-foot casino. It is the perfect hot spot for 20 somethings looking to gamble and party.

What were the girls doing in the July heat of Florida? It couldn’t have been about the money from a second rate. We bet that the lovers were just looking for some quiet R&R away from the LA paparrazzi and tabloid speculation of an impending marriage. Just goes to show that Miami can still be a hip refuge in the summer. A little partying by night, relaxation on the beach by day and always girl on girl friendly. We know Lohan loves a fierce tan and Ronson could use a little color. Our advice to Lindsay and Samantha is to stay in the Setai Hotel next time, it’s a few blocks up Collins and seriously sexy and secluded.

The Flamingo goes Brooke and Bust. Hogan in Miami Beach.

Brooke Hogan Miami BeachThe Flamingo is one of the biggest apartment complexes on South Beach. Adults with Peter Pan complexes, Tony Montana wantabees and even models flock to the Bay Road residencies but it’s not enough to pull the building out of bankrupcy. In a last-age effort to grab some public attention the Flamingo moved Brooke Hogan in, yes we said Brook Hogan. If you don’t know who she is, we don’t blame you. The ditzy daughter of Hulk Hogan had a nonexistent singing career for a minute but is best known for her dad’s reality show on VH1, "Hogan Knows Best." The show ended and the family went to hell but somehow Brooke landed her own solo gig and reality television hit an all new low. We watched the show for a couple minutes and believe we are now dumber for it.

The first episode started with Brooke living in an apartment up Collins Avenue called the Mosaic. The penthouse apartment was donated to her for publicity purposes but we guess she just wasn’t cutting it and and they booted her. The Flamingo took sloppy seconds and moved Brooke Hogan to the 20th floor of its center tower.  We figure if Scarlett Johansson, Justin Timberlake and Shaquille O’Neal couldn’t bring buyers and renters in then the Flamingo is a lost cause.  Brooke Hogan’s beastliness romping through the Flamingo halls will only make apartments forclose faster, if thats even possible. The only thing the building had going for it was the newly renovated south tower, the lobby was turned into a classy haven but the exterior beautification wasn’t enough to sell apartments. The circa 1970’s stuccoed apartments are hideous, the garage shared by all three buildings is a death trap and central air is just not cool anymore. A tacky orange montra is painted all over the complex, " South Beach revolves around the Us." News flash Flamingo, if you weren’t the biggest building on the beach no one would even know you existed. Maybe you should get Brooke Hogan some white paint and a brush and put her in front of the orange walls because re-painting the Flamingo might just be all she’s good for.

What Ocean Drive Says about Casa Tua

Casa Tua is a little romantic Italian restaurant, hotel and lounge hidden @ 1700 James Ave in South Beach. We love the members only lounge upstairs because it keeps the riff raff out and the scenesters in. The name Casa Tua translates into "your house" but don’t be fooled because this isn’t your house and you most likely won’t get in. You have to be a member paying annual dues or have seriously deep pockets to buy this kind of privacy. The tranquil serenity that Casa Tua offers is priceless in the vibrant, party scene city of Miami Beach.

At Casa Tua famous people intertwine with high society over burratas that are to die for. Last time Vince Vaughn flew into Miami he joined his Wedding Crashing pal Owen Wilson. The two chilled together at Casa Tua until around 5:30 in the a.m. If Vaughn and Wilson dig it, enough said.

If you want seclusion on Miami Beach then do like the A-listers do and hideaway at Casa Tua. Impress a girl when you whisk her away to Casa Tua for a romantic Italian soire in the garden. Join the club if you can afford it or stand aside because it is for elite people only and high society Miamian memebers do call this place home.

Gansevoort Hotel South’s Phillipe Chow Restaurant is just S.O.S.o

This past Saturday night started off with high expectations as we drove towards the recently debuted Gansevoort South Hotel on Miami Beach. We were going to the Gans Hotel to try Phillipe Chow restaurant, owned by the same restauranteur as famed hotspot Phillipe New York. Our high expectations quickly fell, as we sat in our black Bentley Continental Flying Spur for what seemed like forever. Trying to get into the hotel driveway to valet was an impossible nightmare. In fact, as the valet man yelled at us to wait our turn in the ungodly line, we watched the clock tick on way past our 9:30 PM reservation time. And let me just say, being yelled at by the valet man is neither a pleasant way to start the evening off nor a good first impression for a new hotel or restaurant. We felt like we were in Manhattan rather than Miami Beach and not in a good way. We finally valeted and made our way into the restaurant to the right of the Gansevoort South’s main lobby.

Gansevoort South's Phillipe Chow Restaurant

We walked in and were pleasantly shocked by the restaurant décor. Phillipe Chow was avant-garde with white washed walls that added to the red Asian flare, ultra high ceilings and a massive lantern chandelier. A killer water wall cleverly separated the main dining room from the crowded bar scene. The hostess’ at the front desk where model-esque, gorgeous and we were seated in a New York minute, a part of New York that we could gladly handle in Miami Beach. We scoped out the scene and saw young, chicly dressed people. A couple at the next table, fiercely made out and a group of businessmen eyed us from across the room. We even spotted LeBron James which wasn’t, by any means, a challenge in his circa 1980’s Kanye West inspired sunglasses. Face it, LeBron, you are a gigantic (literally and figuratively) athlete, not a pop-star trendsetter like Kanye so don’t be rude and take your shades off at dinner!

We ordered basically everything off the menu to get a feel for the food. The wait staff could barely manage, it was pathetic how they messed up the entire order minus the drinks. Three waiters and a manager had to go back and forth between our table and the kitchen a dozen times to fix their mistakes; it was such a struggle and dissapointment for a restaurant of this caliber. The service didn’t come close to Phillipe New York or for that matter any of the other high-end restaurants on the beach. After the entire production, the food was good but not worth that hassle. On a side note, for you futuristic Vegans and Vegetarian out there, the menu is quite forgiving.

There are serious issues to be worked out at Gans South still, we are firm believers that the opening was rushed at the patrons expense. Hopefully the hotel will get it right soon because the name “Gansevoort” won’t be enough to keep people in this town coming back. Don’t cut corners or you’re going to sink in Miami Beach. Miamians are always looking to pay a high price for a stress-free night out, its what keeps us looking young Cool.

RoseHeads @ Bella Rose Lounge Miami

Bella Rose PartyingBella Rose is all the rage right now on Miami Beach. The new Smokey SoBe haunt is bringing retro chic back. Alfred Spellman (co-producer of Cocaine Cowboys) and Keith Paciello (younger brother of Chris Paciello) are the masterminds who just brought the "little lounge with big club spirit" back. Big clubs with tiny tables, pushy lines and power-trippy door guys are so not hot right now. In an effort to get away from all that nonsense, these guys gave us a revolutionary new dig in Bella.

Before the public media attention and noteriety, Bella Rose began gaining momentum by word of mouth in various party circles. Yes, they make flyers for every party but it isn’t for promotional purposes like the other clubs. Their flyers are for aestetic purposes and fun period! There is a level of comraderie in there that you just can’t find anywhere else on the Beach. Bella Rose is basically a modern day "Cheers" where everyone knows your name except bigger and better.

Fierce tunes play five nights a week. DJs Mark Leventhal, Tony G and Joe Dert spin everything from punk, Britney, Billy Idol, Jet to Jacko and the Kings of Leon. DJ Tom Laroc, practices the innovating art of video-mixing every Thursday and Friday. Rapper N’credible just did a private solo performance and MTV reality star Kristen Cavallari was in Bella sipping cocktails a few weekends ago.

A disco ball hangs from the ceiling, a steam machine fogs out the room and neon light creations flash on the walls. Some people have said that the decor is downright heinous but we like the early 90’s grunge feel and layed back entertainment of it all. Pieces of chalk are left out to graffiti the black bathroom walls with and we will be the first to say that there is something incredibly invigorating about autographing your name on public property.

Black Sunday FlyerThe joint’s signature throw-back is its "Black Sunday" night party hosted by whiz kid, Alexis Mincolla. He is a refreshing face on the party scene because he goes against the typical, money grubbing, girl pimping, promoters on Miami Beach. Mincolla is a good host with a loyal following, and he helps create a haute mood of swanky degenerates and playful debauchery for the sake of a grand party. If you have money you know you can buy a lot of things but a montage of memories and good times isn’t one. That’s why Bella Rose puts a premium on being a place for people who know that cool can’t be bought – at any price.

Ready, SET, Go away from Miami Beach

Set Night Club
Address:320 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach FL
SET Miami FL

Upon opening Set nightclub was basically a vibrant scene on Miami Beach, regardless of the fact that it was just another generic project put forth by the Opium Group (a group of investors) . Now it’s dying and we hope, soon to be replaced.

When Set first opened its doors, we thought the space setup was clever, the ambiance trendy and the concept pretty innovative for the lackluster minds at Opium Group. As time quickly passed, the bottle girls got uppity and fat; the door guys got pretentious and mean; the bar had no room to move, let alone order drinks at; and no one could move near the bathrooms. The elite found much trendier new hautes and everyone just kind of felt that the club had run out its welcome just as the previous other Opium Group clubs had. Now we will say, that from the get-go no one really had high hopes for a sister club whose sisters are ugly, trashy and unexciting but, it should have been a no-brainer this time around. After all, Opium group has had more chances then anyone else in the biz, not to mention, a monopoly on prime real estate.

Apparently, the opium group chose not to take their vast amounts of hard learned knowledge in Set because it isn’t more then a year into the club’s life and the crowds are no longer crowded outside. The Lincoln road sidewalk where the club is located, was empty this past Saturday night. It is pretty unbelievable, considering Lincoln Road is one of the most famous streets in the country.

The lesson to be learned here is that just because you have lots of money or wealthy financial backers, does not make you an authority in the nightclub business. Trying to turn a profit will not create the high- quality vibe necessary to bring the club-goers in and maintain them. Thus, you may have the hottest new night club at the moment but it will not retain longevity, inevitably causing a trainwreck. It just goes to show that people aren’t looking for a big generic, run-of–the-mill club anymore. For god sakes its 2008, step outside the box and give us something new that we can’t get anywhere else. Right now on Miami Beach, the exclusive hush-hush clubs are the most beloved . If you can’t be a place that keeps us wanting more, coming back weekend after weekend, and you don’t want to pay attention to what we want then just go away already. Opium Group, please put Set out of its misery and give up the precious club space. How many more times do you need to go big and fail before you get the hint and realize that party people want something fresh, and dangerously risqué.  Its called “sellout” for a reason and you guys sold out a long time ago (Prive Miami, Opium Lounge, Mansion, Prive Vegas).

After all our years partying around your clubs, we are yet to hear anything good about any one of them or hear anyone say they are dying to go back. So listen when we say, “take your big money, corporation mentality and shove it, we are sticking it to the Man.” Oh and one more thing, Opium Group, try not to botch up the new club space you just took over in the Gansevoort South Hotel because they are having enough problems on their own.
