Bloodhound Rocket Car to Destroy the 1,050-Mile Per Hour Mark…and the Sound Barrier

bloodhound Rocket Car

British engineers have been working hard toward developing the first car to break the 1,000-mile per hour marker.  The project car is called the Bloodhound SSC, and is set to overtake the current land speed record-holder, the Thrust SSC, who holds the record for traveling at 766 miles per hour.  Sounds crazy dangerous, I will stick to my slower, safer and sexier exotic rental cars Miami!

Guy Fieri’s Lamborghini Gallardo Heisted, Action-Flick Style!

 Guy Fieri Lamborghini Gallardo Theft

In what may be one of the most action movie style exotic car thefts, the $200k Lamborghini Gallardo owned by celebrity chef Guy Fieri has been stolen from a San Francisco dealership.

The suspect used climbing gear to scale a roof and access the interior of the dealership, where they then sliced through some locks and simply drove off in the 2008 yellow and black exotic sports car.  The theft was accomplished in a style befitting ‘Gone in 60 Seconds’, though I imagine that the luxury car thief is likely far less appealing than Angelina Jolie in that film.

Fieri owns around ten luxury sports cars, and while his collection pales in comparison to some other celebrity luxury car collections (I am looking at you, Jay Leno), the food dude does exhibit much taste in his choices. I am sure he wishes this was a Los Angeles luxury rental car that he rented rather than one of his own exotic cars from his collection.

The trend of renting out rooms in luxury properties and mansions is sweeping across America, as the property owners struggle to keep the banks at bay, essentially transforming their luxe pads into little more than boarding houses or hostels.  How does this phenomenon operate?

WTF: FBI Crashes Ferrari F50?

Ferrari F50 Crashed

*More photos below

If you have an affinity for luxury cars and juicy news, this story is a double-doozy!

According to The Detroit News,  a Ferrari F50 was stolen from a dealership in Rosemont, Pennsylvania back in 2003, and the indignant dealer received $750,000 from Motors Insurance Corp (MIC), the value of the exotic car.  Enter the FBI.

Unbelievably, the FBI used their spidey senses and mad skills to recover the car…in Kentucky (way to blend in).  The pricey Ferrari F50, following procedure, was placed in storage pending prosecution of the thief.  Sounds like the right route, however, this is where the story accelerates.

At some point after the luxury car was confiscated and placed in storage, it was crashed into a tree and totaled.  Naturally, MIC then hits up the FBI and U.S. Department of Justice for their $750,000.  Both organizations ixnayed the request, citing that the Ferrari F50 was detained by the FBI at the time of the crash, making it exempt to any claims.  Guess the agent in question should have opted for a practice run with an exotic rental car and some track time…or avoided the temptation to slip behind the wheel of such a powerful machine.

Charlie Sheen the Luxury Car Sugar Daddy?

Charlie Sheen Loses Job

When you hemorrhage money like Charlie Sheen, I suppose you can afford to splurge on the finer things in life…like $800,000 worth of luxury cars…for others.  I also suppose you could do this with or without a paying TV gig.

The juicy part of said rumors is that Sheen has reportedly bestowed the exotic car gifts to porn stars and other ladies in his life.  A car salesman’s wet dream, Sheen has shed close to a million on four luxury cars over the past month.  Wouldn’t a luxury rental car for each lady have done the trick?

Who Is Ready To Fly?

It’s A Bird, It’s a Plane, It’s a Jetlev

Here at the Chicago branch of Imagine Lifestyles, we usually refer to flying as getting behind the wheel of one of our exotic sports car rentals and cruising down Lake Shore Drive 10-15 mph over the speed limit.  However, after a recent discovery, we hope to soon be actually flying over Lake Michigan.  Unfortunately, we are not purchasing any new luxury charter planes or helicopters but we are hoping to get our hands on a Jetlev as soon as possible.

Reinventing the Wheel: The Solowheel Mini-Segway Video

*Click on video above to veiw the Solowheel in action

Transportation history in a nutshell:

-4000 BC: Invention of the wheel

-1866: Invention of the unicycle

-2001: Invention of the Segway

Of course this leaves out automobiles and exotic rental cars…and now in 2011, we are faced with the Solowheel, a miniature Segway-style contraption that promises to keep people from being as active as they could be.  Points for laziness.
