This Week In Chicago: September 13-19

Let’s face it Chicago, baseball season is over.  The Cubs have been in rare-form since before the all-star break and have managed to fall 19 games under 500.  The White Sox have at least remained competitive but signing Manny Ramirez is not the key to playoff success for the south-siders.  If baseball season is over in Chicago then surely Imagine Lifestyles cannot be suggesting anyone head to Wrigley Field this weekend then right?

Wrigley Field Wrong.  This weekend the Friendly Confines of Wrigley Field will be hosting Jason Mraz and Dave Matthews Band for 2 nights of music Friday and Saturday.  It is sure to be some of the most entertaining moments of the summer at Wrigley since the Cubs have been pitiful since early May.  Outdoor concerts in Chicago will soon be gone until Spring and there are very few, if any, big name acts scheduled in Chicago the remainder of 2010.  Tickets are still available for this historic show and Wrigley Field and its’ adjoining rooftops should be packed with music enthusiasts both nights.

Aston Martin Rolls with the Punches

Most do not typically associate the Aston Martin brand with luxury SUV, yet that seemed to be in their radar in 2009 when they brought back the Lagonda brand in the form of an SUV concept.  An Aston Martin SUV?  What do you think happened?  The world said ‘no thanks’.

Yes, by 2010 Aston Martin made the executive decision to stop that one in its tracks.  Personally, I like the concept, it looks like a luxury SUV, yet still boasts the traditional Aston appearance.  It seems the Aston Martin Rapide is destined to be the anomaly of the brand, being the solitary non-sports supercar.  The Aston Lagonda debut was an industry fizzle, to say the least, so best the brand focus on what it does best and that is blow minds with diminutive super sports cars.  But wait, what is that rumor?  Aston is creating a Lagonda version of the Rapide sedan?  Is the Rapide ok with this?

This Week in Chicago: Lollapalooza Invades Chicago

This Week in Chicago:  Lollapalooza Aug 6-8 2010 Grant Park

Think Woodstock, but substitute rain and farmland for 100-degree temperatures and downtown Chicago and you will have a pretty good idea what Lollapalooza is all about.  For 3 days this weekend, 8 stages will overtake Grant Park as over 120 bands bring their musical talents to the Windy City.  Headlining this year will be Green Day, Lady Gaga, and Soundgarden.

Festival and music fans alike interested in going have the option of buying single day tickets or the 3-day weekend pass.  Lolla offers up a whole lot more than just music as well and this year is really stepping it up with the food selections they are offering on festival grounds.  This year, there will be two different food courts, also known as Chow Towns, on the north and south end of the grounds.  25 new restaurants have been added on to the already impressive foodie lineup from last year.
