Last Saturday: Pop Bollywood, Bella & Calvin Klein

Last Saturday night began at the Museum of Contemporary Art Bollywood themed, annual Pop Gala. Complete with red carpet, photogs and Indian garb dressed greeters. To the right of the entrance was the private Cartier sponsored Ruby Room, entrance fee: $10,000 for four tickets. When it comes to art, some people can still afford to spend. Upon walking into the museum, the walls were lined with silent auction items rather than art, big disappointment. Nothing caught our eye in the auction but it was all in the name of art preservation which is always a good cause. The crowd moved out to the back tent, a massive tent equipped with a separate beer bar, wine bar and vodka bar plus a fourth bar for good measure.  H’ors deurves circled the floor and two long tables held Indian cuisine buffets, plus a massive dessert display. A dance floor in the middle and throngs of wealthy Miamians mingling about. The award winning song from Slumdog Millionaire came on and Indian dancers took to the floor. The acknowledgements for the Gala were made and then the DJ started spinning M.I.A, the older crowd cleared out and the younger socialites took over, the party began.

We left the MOCA Gala shortly after and headed for dinner at Nobu in the Shoreclub. After dinner rather then do one of the bigger clubs on the beach like LIV in the Fountainebleau or Louis in the Gansevoort South Hotel, we headed for Bella Rose. A local bar off the beaten path and hipster cult favorite. Bella has been making waves all the way into the New York Times by pushing the party envelope. Thanks to fresh ideas and an effort not to sell out, Bella keeps the high energy vibe where everyone knows anything goes. We weren’t sure if Saturday’s new "Bella Donna" party could match Sunday’s, Alexis Mincolla hosted "Black Sunday," it did. The fact that celebrity designer Calvin Klein ventured into party with the cool kids says enough. Klein kept composed, watching the Bella mayhem with a smile. Calvin Klein is by no means the first A-lister to make his way into Bella Rose. Klein is just a newby on Miami Beach, the 65 year old semi-retired fashion designer recently bought a 1920’s style Spanish Villa in Miami. Mr. Klein said he wants his new home to have a Mediterranean feel, as if it were “in Greece or something.” And just in case the Mediterranean home is too far away after a night partying on South Beach, Calvin can shack up in his apartment on Collins Avenue. As Klein knows how to live luxuriously and has an avid love of exotic cars, we are sure there will be more conversations between us to follow. After the last five New York winters, Calvin Klein felt he needed two South Florida residencies just to keep warm. As for us we danced like maniacs for the rest of the night, oh, and MOCA raised $60,000 just from the auction!

Vogue, Imagine & Naomi Cambell

A month ago, at Imagine Lifestyles, were called upon by Vogue for a Bentley Flying Spur. Vogue needed the luxury vehicle for a photo shoot Friday, starring Naomi Cambell. We, of course delivered and so at 8 am on Friday found ourselves at Opa Locka’s private airport. The shoot was full scale for Cambell, caterers, two trailers, back up nail technicians and all the essentials.  Naomi Cambell’s Escalade drove up and the atmosphere became somewhat somber. She got out of the car, walked to the tent and browsed over the food selection, to our surprise she was smiling. Cambell wore ripped blue jeans, a white t-shirt and little black vest with her signature long hair flowing. Cambell took a small plate and disappeared into the trailers for two hours.

She re-emerged in a beautiful white dress, wig and nails done, thus indicating that it was time to begin. The actual photo shoot went for just about an hour. Naomi pretending to get off a private jet, our Bentley in the background and a troop of servants in the foreground with her. Fake assistant, body guards, pilots, driver all dressed in black without make-up to offset rather than outdo Cambell in her white designer dress.

The shoot wrapped, we took our Bentley home to our luxury car garage, and Cambell & co moved to the next location at the Mondrian Hotel on South Beach. Vogue’s spread with Naomi Cambell will be in May’s issue and we will be hoping the next shoot we are called upon features Marissa Miller or Kate Moss.

Paris Hilton Shops To Save Us All

Currently, the uber-rich still have money and the poor just keep getting poorer.  And apparently Paris Hilton is very aware of this economy issue. The multi-millionaire celebutante admits that her income has been unchanged by the global financial crisis. Ms. Hilton confessed that promoters are still paying her upwards of thousands of dollars to make appearances. The girl who basically got famous off her daddy’s last name and bank account, is now pledging to do her part to save the economy. Paris is convinced that her excessive shopping habits will boost the retail industry, ergo, help the economy. The heiress is going to shop her way out of the recession and supposedly save us all. Paris Hilton is totally self-absorbed and narcissistic but, at least, she kind of has the right idea.

Juicy Goodness From Sir Elton John

Everybody owns an iPod, most people own a few. An iPod for the gym, one for the car, one to sing with in the shower; a nano, a touch, a shuffle, a mini, etc. etc. So what’s the harm in just one more iPod, especially if its for a good cause?

A new set of Swarovski-crystal studded iPods is in to collect. Designed exclusively by the "Rocket Man" himself, that is Sir Elton John. A Portion of the proceeds will go to Sir Elton’s AIDS Foundation. The "Starburst" set for Elton John AIDS Foundation are available in, count them, nine bling-tastic colors. Each nano is adorned with 250 color-coordinated Swarovski crystals, rainbows and glitter, oh my. The nanos are available in 8GB and 16G versions and each one comes complete with "Rocket Man: The Definitive Hits CD" by Elton John, of course. Plus, his signature engraved on the back. Only 1000 limited edition Starburst EJAF iPods will be made available. You can get yours from the Elton John AIDS Foundation or Selfridges for just $500. If you’re not into Elton John then get a regular nano and beadazzle it, if you’re a diehard fan then order your Starburst iPod immediately. And if you don’t care either way about Elton John, this iPod is still a shiny gift idea and, moreover, a donation to a good cause.

A Pre-Super Bowl 43 Lamborghini Celebration

When a football player is asked how he intends to celebrate a Super Bowl win, he jokes about going to Disney World. Disney World is the habitual joke but no real way to celebrate a Super Bowl win. How would you celebrate?

The big game is this Sunday and it may seem to some, that Arizona Cardinals’ running back Edgerrin James is ahead of himself. While James’ team is 2009 Super Bowl bound, they haven’t won yet. James last played for the Colts who won the 2006 Super Bowl, he received the ring but no play-time. This time around James won’t just be a bench warmer, he is psyched to play. Psyched enough, in fact, to reward himself pre-Super Bowl game outcome. This week while preparing for the game of his life in Tampa, the Cardinal running back bought himself a new Lamborghini. Edgerrin James did a pre-Super Bowl 43 celebration for himself. The white Lamborghini, which is now parked outside his team’s hotel, marks his place in this Super Bowl. There is nothing like a Lamborghini that says, "hi I’m here and better than you." Now whether you win or lose the Super Bowl, at least, there’s a Lamborghini in the picture.

Rumor has it that James doesn’t even like to drive, he would rather text message in the passenger seat. So congrats to James’ chauffeur who, by default, just picked up a money ride.

Imagine Lifestyles With Adrian Grenier

We live the good life people dream of, stick with us and you will get a taste. The Miami Beach nightlife scene is exclusive, fashionable and ever-changing. Florida Room lounge is, at the moment, part of Imagine Lifestyles’ weekly party circuit. Florida Room Tuesdays at the Delano Hotel begin with $20 cocktails and a musical performance by the Big Bounce. Piano man slash singer, Brendan O’ Hara and his beat-boxing band-mate Kamikaze are the Big Bounce and they have recently been attracting big name people into the piano bar.

Last week the big name was HBO darling Adrian Grenier.  Scary Movie actor Simon Rex was at Florida Room as well but no one even cared. Rex was doing anything and everything to get attention but was ultimately just given dirty looks and cast aside.  Adrian Grenier was the only big name worth talking about. Grenier had a table next to our usual Imagine Lifestyles’ table. He was very chill, charming and, of course, with beautiful girls. Grenier is honestly the real life version of his Entourage character Vinny Chase; he is the guy that every guy wants to chill with and every girl just wants. The only difference is that in real life Grenier also makes music, with his band the Honey Brothers. We knew Grenier played drums with his self-proclaimed N.Y.C. Hawaiian-Appalachian glam-rock band but we didn’t expect to get a private performance that night at Florida Room.  When the Big Bounce finished set, Adrian Grenier and the Honey Brothers went to stage and gave Florida Room an impromptu performance. In the absence of a legit drum set, Grenier graced us with his beat-boxing abilities and back up vocals. The Honey Brothers have a special sound, there are really no words but imagine Ween, Weezer, Sebadoh, and the Beach Boys, with a ukulele, some French, a lot of depraved lyrics and you’re close. The girls went wild, SImon Rex sulked off into the hole from whence he came and that was only the beginning of Tuesday night.

The point is this, events like this occur every night all around Imagine Lifestyles. Watching Adrian Grenier perform to a crowd of less then 100 people is just an ordinary Tuesday night for us. Imagine Lifestyles knows where you need to go, who you need to know and how to get you there, elitist style. The life you’ve imagined is waiting, cheesy but true because at the end of the day we always know how to play with the big boys.

Who Stays at Sassafras? Luxury Mansion for Rent and I mean Luxury!

Sassafras is a 48-acre waterfront estate in Long Island, New York. The estate in the "Gold Coast" area of Long Island’s North Shore is mammoth. The estate features a 22,000 sq. ft. Tudor-style main house, with eight bedrooms. A six bedroom guest house, an 11-bedroom staff house, plus, two helipads and a private dock. Besides just being really big, the estate now features a very famous family.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, along with their six children, are temporarily renting the $60 million-listed estate. Little Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne should have more than enough room to play while momma Jolie films her new spy thriller "Salt." The Jolie-Pitt clan is best known for global humanitarian work, renting prime global real estate and, well, picking up new kids globally. To each their own. If the Jolie-Pitt’s can keep affording their children the best of the best, then good for them. The big house, big family, big love with big money; the whole world wants to be adopted by Angelina and Brad. As for Sassafras, maybe an adoring fan will want to rent or buy the estate when the famous family moves out and on to the next location.

Posh’s Birkin Bag is Better Than Yours

Miss Victoria Beckham is in fact Posh but if we had money like her then we would be posh too. Posh, who has intimate relationships with many high-end fashion houses, has such a ridiculous closet that there are no words to describe. Basically she has everything a girl could ever want but hubby footballer David Beckham managed to find one more luxury label to add to her epic closet. David gifted Victoria with a highly exclusive Birkin Himalayan bag, you know, just dripping in hundreds of diamonds. Hermes Birkin bags are a highly sought after status symbol and Victoria Beckham has a collection. However, her newest, sparkling silver Birkin is more important than all the others combined. The bag’s lock is adorned with a three carat diamond and there are only three Himalayan bags in existence. Posh now owns one of the three Birkin Himalayan bags for a reported $120,670. Guys like exotic cars and girls like exotic bags and David Beckham gets it. Most of the free world is probably reading this in shock right now, sadly for you this is just pocket change for the Beckhams. The waiting list for a Himalayan bag like Posh’s is over and done with. Those few ladies lucky enough to already be on Hermes exclusive waiting list will be waiting for four years, the rest of you can enjoy pictures of the bag that you will never own.
