Lotus Confirms Smart Car Set for 2013 Production

Call it a smartcar, a minicar, but Lotus calls it a ‘City Car’. In exciting luxury hybrid news, Lexus has announced that it will unleash the anticipated Lotus City Car in October of 2013, previously revealed in concept form at the Paris Motor Show this year.

The mini luxury machine is based on the concept car ‘Proton EMAS’, the name a stellar nod to design groups Proton and Italdesign Giugiaro. While the name is a little uhm…out there… for my tastes, the Proton EMAS made its debut at the illustrious 2010 Geneva Motor Show as a hybrid vehicle. So let’s get down to specs for the Lotus City Car.

The Wrong John Lennon Luxury Car Sells at Auction

On the heels of an immense wave of John Lennon nostalgia stemming from Rolling Stone publishing previously undisclosed tapes from his final interview, 30 years after his death, a luxury car crime has been committed (see photo below).

It seems that the ‘Mean Green Machine’, an eyesore that was the daily driver for John Lennon and wife Yoko Ono during the final years of his life, has sold at auction. Why does this amaze me? Because he also owned a 1965 Rolls Royce Phantom Limousine painted in wild psychedelic colors and patterns. Which would you rather have for an inflated price because it was formerly owned by a legend? Thought so. I would even settle for a Rolls Royce rental over a putrid green putter.

Smart cars and electric cars have made their way from concept form, to the showroom and our highways. The burning (though not fuel burning) question remaining is how to conveniently refuel electric cars as the number of them on the roadways increases. The $427,000 Hulme CanAm Supercar is Stunning!

I am always a sucker for a new concept car or new supercar style, and I am not a slave to a name brand. So while I have never heard of Hulme Supercars, this hot orange little number caught my attention as I was guiltily surfing through exotic cars online as if it were porn. This would make a fabulous exotic rental car for any fleet!

It comes from Auckland, and will be launched in true luxury car ‘please buy me now’ format, with a limited run of just 20 supercars. This is the only production road car to be named for F1 world champion Denny Hulme, and is a high-performance, mid-engine mounted roadster.

Yes, a mere 10 of these svelte supercars are being made available at the bargain price of $2.63 million each. But wait…is this Lambo even classified as street legal? It is definitely too fast to serve as an exotic rental car Miami…or is it?

Mysterious Exotic Car Auction, Who is Selling the Sultan’s Cars?

Recently a staggering collection of exotic supercars went on sale, including around 25 Ferraris, 3 Lamborghinis and a Cizeta. The sheer volume and uniqueness of the collection indicates that it is almost certainly that of the Sultan of Brunei. So who is selling the Sultan’s fleet?

All of the luxury cars are unregistered with delivery mileage only, and all were ordered brand new from the factory and delivered directly to the owner. The owner then never drove them. I don’t know if that displays extreme willpower, or extreme stupidity.

The diminutive new Cadillac Urban Luxury Concept SUV proves that dynamite can come in small packages! Fashioned with perks and capabilities that appeal to city slickers who are long on cash and short on parking spaces, this little luxury rascal packs a serious punch in many departments! Could this be the future of the exotic SUV rental Miami? I somehow cannot picture such a kitten clawing at the likes of the Escalade rental Miami any time soon, but it is certainly cute!

Leno Loves Cougars

TV star, Jay Leno, loves cougars. Not the car, per se, but older classic cars. Can I call them cougars? Most cars are referred to as ‘females’, after all!

The longtime late night talk show host and comedian is well-known as a geeky collector of cool cars, but you won’t find any young stuff in his garage. Forget the brand new models and current luxury rental cars Miami style, Leno prefers a bit of history with his expensive toys.

He bought a turbo version of the Bentley when it first came out in 1990, a GMC pickup followed soon after, but then nothing new for years.
