Porsche 911 GT3 Supercar Moonlights as Uhaul

As auto buffs, we love all luxury and exotic cars, like the Porsche 911 GT3.  It is ideal for many occasions, like a scenic drive down Ocean Avenue in South Florida, a night out on the town, a memorable date, a business event or a moving vehicle.  Wait, what?

Yep, apparently this proud Porsche owner has decided that his luxury car can perform Porsche 911 GT3 Supercarany task with that much power, even haul his bicycle and belongings around for what appears to be a move.  Well, I suppose the Porsche 911 GT3 luxury car does feature a 3.8-liter V6 engine with 435 horses.  And with rear-wheel drive and the ability to go from 0-60 in approximately 4 seconds flat, I guess that hauling a small trailer is not going to be a problem for this beast.

Alas, I know I am not the only gearhead who sees something wrong with this picture.  Actually, the longer I do look at this picture, it becomes increasingly blurry due in part to my tears of laughter.  Somehow this photo screams “wealthy college kid at semester break”, I bet the insurance company would love to see this!  I do not think this act of insanity would have occurred with a Bugatti Veyron, just saying.

I think I would have strapped the bike to the trailer, to avoid desecrating my Porsche’s paintjob.  Whoever this rather quirky Porsche owner is, I hope they know that they have made my day (I found the photo on ‘thatwillbuffout.com’, a site I love, thanks guys!)

Take a peek at our luxury Porsche rentals and other exotic car rentals Florida on your way out!  (If you intend to transform them into high-end Uhauls, we need to discuss the matter first).

China Unveils 3D Express Coach, Welcome to the Future!

When I first glimpsed this photo online, I felt the thrill that small children feel when they get a new idea that they shouldn’t, which must have been how the designer felt when he came up with it! This is so crazy, so innovative, and so logical that it may actually work to solve China’s overpopulation crisis.  What is it?  Glad you asked.3D Express Coach China

Meet the ‘3D Express Coach’, and while I cannot say that the branding efforts are impressive, the idea certainly is!  It is a bus that just runs over cars on the streets.  The 3D Express Coach is like a train, only without the additional space wasted on tracks.  It runs on svelte tracks that are positioned as part of the road, like guardrails.  It is a hoverbus!  Imagine the commute times slashed by avoiding traffic issues!  No one with any brains would drive in the city again, leading to not only a more functional city, but also a greener one!  Oh the possibilities.

Ferrari 458 Italia-Some Like it Hot: Ferrari Recall

Ferrari fans, owners and employees have been aflame with the latest news from the supercar brand, that some of the 458 Italia models are being recalled in light of the recent fires reported on several models around the globe.  That translates to replacements or recall tweaks to a percentage of the 1200 $260,000 dollar luxury cars.

Of the 1200 458 Ferrari supercars, only some will be making backtracks to the factory.  All Ferrari 458 models built since July have been modified at the Ferrari factory to resolve the problem.   The 458 model was not introduced to the United States market until June, so only a small percentage need be recalled.  The models that did catch fire will be completely replaced.

Luxury List: The $1 million Mercedes-Benz G-Class

This luxury SUV appears to have been based on a simple cardboard box…just replace the cardboard with carbon fiber.  Oh, and slap on a price tag of $1 million smackeroos.  Meet the Mercedes G-Couture.

This SUV is not only an eyesore; it makes no logical sense, yet there it is.  Yet, it does please me greatly that companies are willing to add luxurious carbon fiber to SUVs, it will not only look great, but lighten the gas-guzzling load and lower environmental impact.

In my humble opinion, the G-Class SUV still bears too much of a resemblance to its original tank-ish beginnings.  Now it is a tank with a luxury badge, and demands a heavy wallet.  Now let’s get down to specs!

Engine:  5.7-liter supercharged (I love that word)
Power/Torque:  700 bhp
Top Speed:  158 miles per hour
0-60 Mark:  4.3 seconds
Fuel Economy:  Don’t ask
Competition:  Lunar Shuttle, Brabus G-Wagon, TechArt Magnum, Chuck Norris

Luxury List: Rare Porsche Nabs Nearly $4 Million and World Record

Attention Steve McQueen and Porsche fans, a rare 1970’s Porsche racecar just destroyed the auction block, fetching a stunning $3,965,000 million at Bonhams & Butterfield’s in Monterey.  This also shatters the world-record for the most expensive Porsche ever sold at auction.  Let’s find out why.

The Porsche is actually a historic and rare ex-Jurgen, similar to the one sported by Steve McQueen in Le Mans.  It is a 1970 Gulf-JWA Le Mans 917K Porsche Interserie Spyder, so try saying that three times fast.  Racecars generally boast lengthy names, in efforts to give credit to various people or innovation.

Korean Police Drive Supercars

I have covered police issued supercars in the past, but it is typically a special car per force.  In Seoul, Korea, the crime fighters can brag about having not just a supercar, but three impressive supercars at their disposal!

And what luxury supercars exactly do they have on their force?  A Ferrari F360, a Porsche 911 and a Lamborghini Gallardo.  That is an exotic arsenal at its finest, I will consider them Seoul’s finest.  So why does Seoul need such a sophisticated fleet of luxury patrol cars to take out the indigenous Daewoos, Kias and Rickshaws?

I like to think it is an intimidation tactic.  The poor souls of Seoul gripping the wheel of their four-cylinder Euro-style autos know damn well they have zero chance of escape once they sink there eyes into a Ferrari with tacky police lights fixed to the top.

I can almost picture them cranking up the A/C in efforts to calm down, beads of sweat forming on their brows.  Offending motorists may as well hang their heads and admit instant defeat while that A/C sucks the last of the power from their diminutive daily drivers.

I also have an inkling that the police officers behind the wheels of these luxury cop cars are in high demand by the ladies (and gents should their be a female officer on the force).  I know if I were pulled over, I would roll out the red carpet and likely want a photo op, although I am not certain how well that would go over with the officer on duty.

Feds Give Flying Car Weight Exemption

The Terrafugia Transition is the closest thing to a flying car that has been created to date.  There is no end to the awesomeness of this idea, a vehicle that is equal parts plane and you know, car.  Seriously.

Terrafugia is a startup firm, and they have been developing and tweaking the Transition (fitting name) since 2006.  This startup was founded by a group of MIT engineers who seem to have an affinity for the aerial.  Basically, Transition is a light, single-engine plane capable of folding its wings, with a substantial four-wheeled undercarriage allowing it to be a car.  One word:  Beast.

Luigi Colani’s Future Cars Make Spherical Sense

Luigi Colani began to make a name for himself in the arena of design around the 1940s and 1950s.  Born in 1928, it became obvious at the onset of his career that German industrial designer Colani was indeed born bLuigi Colani Future Car Designsefore his time!

To give you a greater insight of Colani’s view, he says:

“The earth is round, all the heavenly bodies are round; they all move on round or elliptical orbits. This same image of circular globe-shaped mini worlds orbiting around each other follows us right down to the microcosmos. We are even aroused by round forms in species propagation related eroticism. Why should I join the straying mass who want to make everything angular? I am going to pursue Galileo Galilei’s philosophy: my world is also round.”
