Amphibious Vehicles & Wet Dreams- The Lamborghini Countach Walks on Water?

Aquatic Lamborghini Kit

This amphibious luxury car has hidden capabilities that the likes of Ferrari, Bentley, and even James Bond’s beloved Aston Martin dare not compete with!  This aquatic Lamborghini Countach gives no indication while on the road that it can walk on water, like a certain religious figure. Wonder if this may be a Lamborghini rental car or better yet a Lamborghini rental boat?

Amphibious Lamborghini Countach Kit

Wait, so the Bull is now hitting both the pavement and the water?  Perhaps the applause from bizarre exotic car lovers around the world will drown out the sound of Italian metal rusting.  Unfortunately, the real luxury car and luxury car rental players are not actually producing amphibious luxury cars at this juncture; so this is a mock-up.  The world needs more swimming luxury cars…I share this thought with all seriousness.   So who is behind this brainchild?

Why Rent a Car? Top 5 Hidden Costs of Owning a Luxury Car

Many people are satisfied with driving or renting a standard car from a top-rated automaker, but others crave the experience and image only an exotic car or luxury car rental can provide.  Before making the big decision, it is important to consider the hidden costs of owning a luxury car, as you may prefer to rent one!

Among the top 5 hidden costs of owning a luxury car are:

1.    Higher taxes
2.    Increased insurance needs and rates
3.    Maintenance costs, cost of ownership
4.    Fuel expenses
5.    Proper storage costs

Higher taxes.  When you own a luxury car, you will incur not only the steep initial cost of purchase, but get slapped with a large sales tax.  This is because the sales tax is the same for any vehicle purchase, and measured by a percentage of the vehicle’s price tag, which will be astronomically higher for a luxury car.  Before investing, you may want to consider how much cheaper it will be to simply indulge in a luxury rental car on special occasions.

Insurance costs and risks.  While sales tax is the same percentage for standard and luxury cars, insurance rates differ.  Exotic and luxury cars come with a higher insurable risk, and insurance companies bill accordingly.  Before you buy that Lamborghini, Ferrari or Aston Martin, check with your insurance agent to find out hFerrari F430 Wreckow much your monthly insurance bill will jump, you may be astounded.  A properly insured Ferrari F430 rental is less of a headache should you have a fender-bender…or end up in a situation like the photo to the right!  One accident to your luxury car decreases the resale value grately.

Bugatti Veyron, one of the fastest supercars on the planet, is perched to take the Indian markets by storm.  As soon as October 28th, 2010, Bugatti will begin to sell their luxury cars in India, inspired by the recent success of luxury cars in that market.  So far, before sales have even begun, there are two buyers lined up.

Luxury car brands Bugatti, Bentley and Lamborghini are all owned by Volkswagen, and will all be distributed by Exclusive Motors to the Indian market.
Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Supercar Bugatti is often the favorite, a truly spectacular sports car.  The latest Bugatti Veyron 16.4 is capable of reaching speeds of approximately 168 miles per hour, nailing the 0-60 mark in around 3.2 seconds.  The Veyron is rumored to be the current fastest car under regular production.  I wonder how many exotic and luxury car rentals Bugatti plans to make available to the Indian market.

2012 Lamborghini Jota Spied at Nurburgring

Lamborghini’s next big one, the 2012 Jota, has been spotted at Nurburgring recently.  The Jota, codename LB715-5, is to be the replacement for the much loved Murcielago model, and should be officially released at the Geneva Auto Salon in March 2011 and is currently under testing and performance analysis.

Lamborghini Jota 2012

The 2012 Lamborghini Jota will be more fuel-efficient than the Murcielago, inline with current trends.  This luxury car features two special flaps on the rear end, which are part of a wing covering the rear, revealing itself only at higher speeds.  It is located just above the taillights and it is not clear if it also acts as an airbrake.   This lamborghini may be the perfect sports car to to add to a fleet of Miami exotic car rentals.  I am sure if a luxury rental car company got a hold on this lamborghini now they would charge astronomical fees for this pre production lamborghini rental car.

Luxury List: The London Best Shotgun $400,000

For those of you who are savvy in the world of shotguns and firearms, you already know that some of the best guns, according to some, are actually called “Best Gun”, as in “London Best”, a piece that costs more than a freakin Ferrari!

In fact, you may be able to purchase two Ferraris, Lamborghinis or other supercars in the typical $200,000 range for just one of these luxury collector guns.  So what makes a “London Best” so special?

London Best Shotguns in Luxury Case

It is a double-barreled shotgun created as if it were a piece of art, with careful precision.   Shotgun aficionados can spot a London Best in a crowd, much like women can spot a Coach bag or anything by Luis Vuitton.  A best gun is made of the highest quality and finish and is top-grade by a top manufacturer.  The quality is outstanding, and mirrors the same idea as opting for an Aston Martin rental over a standard car rental, you know you are getting something special.

2013 Lotus Esprit Debuts at Paris Motor Show

A plethora of new luxury car models were unveiled at the 2010 Paris Motor Show, and many of them have proven to be memorable, like the new Lotus Esprit.  Complete with backing by a new management team, Lotus Cars is unveiling much more than new models, but an aggressive plan for the company’s future.

So what makes the plan so aggressive?  There will be a total of 5 new Lotus models, including a sedan.  It seems that even supercar brands are coming out with sedan options to cover more market niches.

I must be honest, however, and let you know that the 2013 Lotus Esprit stole the show.  Not that stealing the show is anything new for this supercar, which has graced the big screen in the likes of James Bond, Basic Instinct and Pretty Woman.2013 Lotus Esprit Supercar Concept So which car do you think would be best to add to a fleet of Miami luxury rental cars?

The new Esprit Lotus packs a 5.0-liter V8 under its pretty little hood, capable of pushing out 620 horsepower via your gas pedal.  The Esprit supercar nails the 0-60 marker in under 3.4 seconds, with top speeds of around 205 miles per hour, placing it right up there with most of the sport car ‘big boys’.

Hood Ornaments Lead to 596 Bentley Recalls

This is no joke, luxury carmaker Bentley is in a position to recall 596 cars due to its famous “flying B” metal emblem.  It seems the metal emblem on some models does not retract, which could potentially injure pedestrians in the event of an accident.  What?

Yes, it seems that if the bedazzled logos fail to retract properly, it increases the risk of injury to a pedestrian.  So I am picturing this risk, and it seems it would essentially impale said pedestrian, decreasing their chances of survival.  I suppose the Bentley hood ornament does have the potential to become a projectile, but highly unlikely.  I think someone has too much thinking time to come up with that scenario, though I am not the expert in luxury car crashes.

This risk has been taken seriously by Bentley, who is in the process of recalling 596 Arnage, Azure and Brooklands models from2007 through 2009.  Ouch.  Bentley will replace corroded emblems, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website.

No accidents or injuries have been reported thus far, and Bentley will begin the process of replacing the hood ornaments on the $200,000 plus luxury cars and Bentley rentals starting September 27th according to NHTSA.  As for the hood ornament supplier (yes, there is one apparently), they have stepped up and taken steps to prevent corrosion, adding grease to prevent water from accumulating inside.

Fun fact:  Bentley is owned by German automaker Volkswagen, who also happens to own Bugatti and Lamborghini.

2010 Paris Auto Show Lamborghini Preview

The 2010 Paris Auto Show is fast approaching, and will be showcasing the latest and greatest luxury autos and more from October 2nd through the 17th.  The auto blogs are blowing up with rumors of drastic changes from our friends at Lamborghini.  So is it true?  Is Lamborghini planning to unveil two new cars at the show?

It seems that luxury carmaker Lamborghini is generating some buzz aside from the Jota model (LB715-5), with rumors of a second model also to be revealed at the Paris Auto Show.  Could it be? (Insert ‘The HaThe Hangover Moviengover’ jokes here).

According to rumors, the Italian marquee will be simultaneously debuting the Lamborghini Jota and the “83X” at the show.  There is also talk that Lamborghini may be showing the “83X” as soon as September 23rd at a special dealership event.  So what is this elusive “83X”?
