Florida Man Arrested for Using Cellphone Jammer During Commute

Cellphone Jammer

A Florida man is being dubbed a vigilante after taking the annoying and deadly issue of distracted driving into his own hands. Jason Humphreys of Seffner, Florida, used a cellphone jammer in his vehicle for a couple of years before being hit with a very hefty fine.

Yikes.

Jason Humphreys of Florida became so annoyed by the cellphone yammer, he installed a jammer. It is, of course, not legal to run amok with a cellphone jammer and disrupt the service of all around you. It is legal to talk on cellphones while operating a vehicle in the state of Florida, but not to text. Humphreys became irritated with the onslaught of distracted drivers on the already clogged Florida roadways and managed to go about 16-24 months operating his signal jammer before being caught. Metro PCS alerted authorities that something was amiss during regular commuting hours. It was reported that it took the FCC and other authorities quite some time to catch up with him and to even figure out what the disruption was. read more

Finally: BMW i8 Plug-in Official Details Released

BMW i8

After many years of concepts and teasing, BMW has officially released the final details for its i8 luxury hybrid car. Eager buyers can now account for actual cost, added options costs and special trim packages. All details aside, it will be an exhilarating first for BMW i8 hybrid buyers!

The BMW i8 should perhaps be shown in green? For the money I would personally rather have an Audi R8, but this is great for BMW addicts.

The BMW i8 base model will begin at $135,700 plus that pesky standard $950 destination charge. BMW shared in their blog that the first i8 models to arrive will be the “Pure Impulse World” cars, and that they will cost an extra $10,800. Not to worry, these models feature some extras like BMW i blue seatbelts, leather seating and leather rimmed mats, leather engine cover, special brake calipers with BMW i blue accent, ceramic coating on the gear handle and a special i8 badge on the headrests. They also come with the bragging rights of owning one of the first plug-in BMW cars on the planet…which seems legit. read more

Porsche flat four engines

With all of the new hybrids, electric powertrains and more eco-friendly fare lining the stages of auto shows over the past years–it comes as little surprise that Porsche is downsizing in some areas. Word is that Porsche flat four engines may dip as low as 1.6-liters in all their turbocharged glory. That is right, the sixes are going down.

What will downsizing mean for Porsche in the power department?

The new Porsche turbocharged flat fours will be emerging to engage over the next few years. There is much speculation, and there should be a handful engine options to choose from. Google Self-Driving Car Lacks Seats and Wheel

Google self-driving car

No, you are not looking at a full-scale model of an automobile from an anime flick. This is a functioning prototype of the latest Google self-driving car. Remember the Google autonomous vehicle that gained legal clearance to operate in certain places? Well, this animated little number is out there testing at furious speeds of 25 miles per hour in parking lots…and it lacks both a steering wheel and pedals. Silly humans, Google does not think you must drive. The Audi R8 LMX Has Laser Beams: Checkmate BMW?

Audi R8 LMX

Now the BMW i8 will not be the only exotic sports car with lasers. The Audi R8 LMX is getting laser high beams. This will make the limited edition Audi R8 a smidge cooler than it already was and will be the first production model fitted with laser high beams, according to the brand. Likely due to the production timelines for each company and which model will be officially released first.

While it is a bit unclear which company had what laser in production form first, one thing is crystal clear: laser beams on cars is awesome. Lamborghini Urus

The Lamborghini Urus could break new ground for the Raging Bull by becoming the first-ever model to offer a turbo option. The end result would be the company’s very first turbo, which is certainly quite exciting!

Fans of turbocharging know that the technology is a bit of an addiction. For that reason, the turbo Lamborghini Urus could be the gateway drug to a new outlook on what belongs under the hood of the entire future of the brand.
