WTF: Lamborghini Explodes, Takes Half of Sold House With It!

Imagine that you have just sold your home, but that you were still living in it while you moved your belongings out for the new owner.  Now imagine starting your vintage Lamborghini in the garage of said newly sold home, and having it explode…taking half of the house with it!  This is exactly what happened to a 51-year-old Detroit area man recently.

WTF: FBI Crashes Ferrari F50?

Ferrari F50 Crashed

*More photos below

If you have an affinity for luxury cars and juicy news, this story is a double-doozy!

According to The Detroit News,  a Ferrari F50 was stolen from a dealership in Rosemont, Pennsylvania back in 2003, and the indignant dealer received $750,000 from Motors Insurance Corp (MIC), the value of the exotic car.  Enter the FBI.

Unbelievably, the FBI used their spidey senses and mad skills to recover the car…in Kentucky (way to blend in).  The pricey Ferrari F50, following procedure, was placed in storage pending prosecution of the thief.  Sounds like the right route, however, this is where the story accelerates.

At some point after the luxury car was confiscated and placed in storage, it was crashed into a tree and totaled.  Naturally, MIC then hits up the FBI and U.S. Department of Justice for their $750,000.  Both organizations ixnayed the request, citing that the Ferrari F50 was detained by the FBI at the time of the crash, making it exempt to any claims.  Guess the agent in question should have opted for a practice run with an exotic rental car and some track time…or avoided the temptation to slip behind the wheel of such a powerful machine.

Don’t Drive Your Badass Lamborghini While Impaired-Even if You are Vince Neil of Motley Crue

Rocker Vince Neil of Motley Crue has discovered the hard way that even being a wealthy and famous resident of Sin City does not translate to a get out of jail free pass.  It seems to for Paris Hilton, but not for Lindsay Lohan, Mel Gibson, Nicole Richie or Vince Neil.  At least he was driving his own Lambo and not a Lamborghini rental or other exotic car rental LA when the incident occurred!

Exotic Car Crashes-Ferrari F360 Spider

Insurance, folks.  Anyone in his or her right mind knows that if you have an exotic car worth $168,000, your ass better have it insured.  Ok so you have it insured, but what if you unwittingly allow an uninsured driver behind the wheel?  And what if it is in the name of charity?  Chris Carey learned the hard way that lending your Ferrari F360 out for a charity event can backfire, or catch fire.

Yes, Southhampton luxury car dealer Chris Carey was trying to be a stand up guy and offer his Ferrari F360 Spider out for a charity function in 2009 when an uninsured driver crashed it into a tree.  What happened to due diligence?  I feel for the guy, being generous and losing large amounts of dough in the process.

Hidden Dangers of Rental Cars

Imagine Lifestyles Luxury RentalsIt may surprise you to learn that among the leading rental car companies in the U.S, there are some serious hidden dangers.  It is always advised to go with a trusted and credible rental car or luxury rental car establishment to ensure your safety.  Case in point, recalls and rental car company policies.

Yes, rental car companies across the United States are host to hundreds of thousands of rental cars.  When you slide behind the wheel of your next one, be sure you are aware of the companies policies regarding recalls.  The tragic deaths of two sisters driving a PT Cruiser rented from Enterprise.  Rachel and Jackie Houck were driving the PT Cruiser, which had not been service, despite Enterprise being notified of the recall.  The cars were recalled due to a power steering fluid leak that could potentially cause a fire.  The girls were driving the car at highway speeds when it caught fire, causing them to lose steering, veering into an oncoming tractor trailer, killing both girls.

Man in Van hits Tom Brady’s Sedan, Injures Passenger

A 21-year-old must have felt he could not tackle New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady on his own, so he plowed into him with his minivan.  Ok, in reality the 21-year-old Brockton man ran a red light and nailed a sedan driven by Brady in Boston’s Back Bay section early in the morning.  Not a good day to be him.Tom Bradys Audi S8 Tom Brady

The man, Ludgero Rodrigues was cited based on witness statements, after his claim that the light was green when his Mercury Villager van collided with the sports superstar’s sedan.  Rodrigues’s rear passenger had to be removed via cutting off the minivan’s roof and was transported to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in serious condition, according to police.

Ferrari 458 Italia-Some Like it Hot: Ferrari Recall

Ferrari fans, owners and employees have been aflame with the latest news from the supercar brand, that some of the 458 Italia models are being recalled in light of the recent fires reported on several models around the globe.  That translates to replacements or recall tweaks to a percentage of the 1200 $260,000 dollar luxury cars.

Of the 1200 458 Ferrari supercars, only some will be making backtracks to the factory.  All Ferrari 458 models built since July have been modified at the Ferrari factory to resolve the problem.   The 458 model was not introduced to the United States market until June, so only a small percentage need be recalled.  The models that did catch fire will be completely replaced.
